SOME ARE ASKING WHY IS HE SENDING THIS EMAIL!

THE FORMER COUNCIL MEMBER HAS A FEW WORDS FOR METRO!

I received this email from city hall on Friday and I called a source wondering exactly what was the point. I wanted to know the significance of Carroll Robinson sending this letter to the Mayor. That person told me they were wondering the same thing because Robinson is no longer a council member and has no authority over METRO issues. So here's the email that left me scratching my head and several other people at city hall:

Texas Southern University

              February 2, 2007

Honorable Bill White

901 Bagby

Houston, Texas 77002

Dear Mayor White:

I am writing to express concerns about the need for the city to make clear to METRO that it wants METRO’s light rail and Bus Rapid Transit development to be consistent with the city’s developing plans for Mix Use and Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and its on-going Urban Corridor Planning process.

The City should make it clear to METRO that it will not grant access to city

right-of-way if METRO’s TOD plans are inconsistent with the city’s efforts and not fully discussed with the impacted neighborhoods now rather then later.

Thank you in advance for your prompt and full attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Carroll G. Robinson

Associate Dean of External Affairs

As a TSU administrator, Robinson is presumably concerned that METRO is not being as forthcoming with TSU as they would like re: the University Line.

Of course, forthcoming and METRO are two terms that we usually never use together.

Unfortunately, sending out meaningless memos is what happens when you become a political has-been and are on a constant struggle for relevance. When Robinson sold his soul to the devil (right wing political nuts, decided to mislead the African American community about those propositions and decided to denegrate African American community leaders, he effectively put the final nail in his coffin. I sure hope Robinson is not using TSU staff to research and type his datribes and run for political office again. (Maybe Chuck Rosenthal needs to make a trip to the TSU School of Public Affairs) On another note, I'm sure Bill White is in a major rush to respond to this junk. Get a life!

Personal attacks aside, is there a concern about METRO's University Line as it relates to TSU? If so, can someone please state it.

I think that has to be what is motivating Robinson.

If so, he should spell out his concerns clearly.

lRobinson is always leading people down the wrong path. That the reason he does not spell it out. He is planning on getting back into political arena, and want to keep his name in the limelight. Look out for CITY CONTROLLER. Who CAN TRUST HIM? Robinson, stay at TSU and try not to mislead our young people with your rhetoric.

his concern involves the lack of planning by metro. The university portion of the line wasn't on the ballot. METRO is going to devastate neighborhoods by closing streets, which limits access to neighborhoods, by residents and emergency vehicles. go look at metro's website and see how many streets will be closed along scott because of the se line. closing streets does not make for good neighborhoods. it only isolates them more.
