KEEPING COPS ON THE STREETS SAFE!
The Insite has learned the Houston Police Department is exploring more tools to keep their officers safe on the streets. They're considering the use of metal detecting wands to insure suspects who are arrested don't have weapons hidden on them. The department is also researching the use of bulletproof shields in their police units to make sure if a weapon goes undetected the officers can't be shot from the back seat. This comes after the September 2006 of Officer Rodney Johnson. Meanwhile, the Fraternal Order of Police is pushing for more officers on the streets. Which plan do you support?

More cops, more cops, more cops. How many times do we have to say it? Look, tasers and shields and wands and cameras are great, but in NO WAY do they take the place of feet on the street.
AS a police officer, I can assure you of this: if a weapon gets in your backseat, you screwed up. We dont need bullet proof shields.
And as a police officer, I say, what is your point? Are you saying that if you make a mistake and "screw up" you deserve to die or are you just letting you us all know how perfect YOU are?
The bullet-proof glass will save lives. I doubt officers would usee the wands on the steet.
If you did not get my point, I dont know what to tell you. So, I'll repeat it: if a weapon gets in your backseat, you screwed up. So you are gonna replace the plexiglass with bullet proof glass? What about the rest of the partition below the glass?
Guess what my friend, people screw up! Does that mean we need to pay for it with our lives? On top of that, have you forgotten about the officer who was shot by a man he put in the back seat of his car to give a courtesy ride to a gas station? He didn't pat down the guy because the officer was only doing a public service and didn't realize he was dealing with a criminal.
