T. J. BAKER: AFRICAN AMERICAN REPUBLICAN PREPARING TO TAKE ON SHELIA JACKSON LEE!

Here's what T-J Baker's camp is saying about Shelia:

The word is slowly, but surely getting out. That Ms. Tj Baker - Holm will
be running against Shelia Jackson - Lee.

Can U see it?

A Black/Strong/Woman/Democrat

Running against a

A Black/Strong/Woman/Republican

Does Tj have the experience?

Well just enough - when Shelia 1st started off - running in the political
circle. Who by the way...never won. Shelia ran for City office - almost
7 times and never won. If it was not for Former Mayor Kathy Whitmire, who
appointed Shelia as an Associated Judge...Shelia would have NEVER got in
the political arena. With that appointed position - Shelia took off
running and finally won a political seat on her own.

Shelia has been in office for over 15+ years. People & High power
business are tired of her. She yells. Hoops, & holler and then leave the
scenes. All barking and no action! Yes, Tj is a Republican...But a Logical Republican. And her financial supporters are definitely increasing! 10 more months - before the Primary elections start. We shall see how ALL of this unfolds. Stay tunned.

Just like white folks, always getting black folks to do their dirty work.

If she wants to be a congressman run for Nick Lampson seat since Shelly Gibbs is already running.

I think TJ Baker is a shining star on the political horizon and would make a great congress member. Kudos to you for having the insight to write about her. I love your blog, and think you have a great writing style. Great entry, and keep up the good work!

Anonymous shut up. Why is it every time a black person isn;t a Democrat they are doing white mans work? TJ is an independent woman who owns her own businesses and has hustled her whole life to become a star

TJ is a rising star and I wish her the best. I will be out campaigning hard for her in 2008! We need a change in guard.

I don't care who T.J. Baker is as long as she unseats that loud-mouth, say nothing, always hogging the shot, wind bag. Sheils's had her day, it's time she found a real job.

Awesome! I can't stand Shelia and look forward to learning more about Ms. Baker...

we do have a democratic society. why do we have to become personal with our statement? congresswoman lee does work tireless for her district. she travel all over the place to be well inform on issues that affect her district. half of you don't even know what goes on in washington, and the extent of her duties. you don't even understand that senority counts in washimgton. when you lose an experience representative, the district lose out. so what if she hog the cameras. check out what she is doing in washington and if she is upholding her constituents interest. she represent the poorest district in the city. IN WASHINGTON it's all about cutting services and monies for the poor and raiseing taxes for the middle class working people which affect the district she represent. the republicans is busy takeing fund from health care for our children to paid for a war, while our young men and women are being kill, along with being handicap for the rest of their lives. what help to they get and their families when they return. i rather have a loud mouth and camera hog who stands up and fight for the poor and working class. it's not about personality, it's about being there for who you represent. That's why we had barbara jordan and mickey leland. None of us would be anywhere had it not been for the civil rights poor and working class blacks who was in the struggle makeing it possible for all of us. let's not forget where we came from!!! LET US NOT SAID NASTY THING ABOUT OUR ELECTED BLACK OFFICIAL. LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ISSUES THAT ARE FACING OUR COMMUNITY WHERE WE NEED THERE HELP. IF THEY DON'T FULLFILL A PARTICULAR ISSUE, THEN WE MAKE THAT ISSUE KNOWN. THAT'S NOT PERSONAL!!

No 'N' words on the Insite except in the form of news....

I would like for the Insite to look into what SJL has done since she has been in office. I can recall her fighting to have storms named after black people, but I want to know whatelse she has done. Please list the bills she had passed.

JOLO said...

Its really time for SJL to find another way to keep her kids in PRIVATE school,, People are getting pretty tired of the face hogging and wanting to name storms after black people.. She will NEVER be a barbara jordan

I see several comments in defense of SJL bringing home the bacon to her district, taking care of black folks, blacks only vote for Democrats, etc. and we should vote for her because she is black. It seems to me that is exactly the kind of mentality that the true heroes of the civil rights movement fought against. SJL is in it for SJL. I think its time we start thinking of ourselves as Americans, not African Americans, Hispanic Americans or white Americans. MLK said it best:

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm a conservative white guy in SJL's district. I look forward to having a conservative, regardless of color, to vote for in '08.

I have voted for Sheila for as long as I can think. I will not be voting for her this time around. Let's give a younger person a chance to shine. Sheila is old news and get nothing done. I am a registered Democrat and have been for 20 years, but I will be voting for this woman.

Sheila has done a hell of alot for you people and you dog her out like this. it is a fact the black race don't and won't achieve a thing if you continue to think the way you do. JUST SAD!

Oh Hush Anonymous you probably mad because you are a recepient of the government largess that many of us don't get to receive from Sheila " I never Seen a Camera I didn't like" Jackson Lee. Her time is up she is a has been she needs to get back home and let someone new take her spot. She should go into the Mortuary business because she goes to more funerals than she passes legislation or shall I correct myself "Author" legislation that actually gets passed. Go home and cry about that!

Thanks Isiah for deleteing the N word. The negative tone of some of the bloggers is really personal against Congress memeber Sheila Lee. No one ever hold the White OLD elected Congress Persons and Senators accountable to the BLACK Communities. No one said it's time for them to go. They been there to long. No one of colored is trying to run against them. No one even question what they are doing for us. WHY? It's the same old slave mentallity exist among the black people. You can't even see the big picture. Dog your black people and make it personal, instead of seeking information about what they are doing in Washington. I agree with the blogger about attacking our Black elected Official. I AM YOUNG AND BLACK AND I KNOW THRU MY AFRICAN STUDIES about the divide and conquer mentallity. Did anybody listen to Farrakan last speech. WAKE UP YOUNG PEOPLE!!! I love all people, I also honor those person who agree or disagree with me. It' call respect for my fellow man or woman. PEACE!

What do you mean hold white elected officials accountable to black communities? Most black communities are run by Blacks and if they are run by whites they are white democrats.

I personally don't see why Republicans pay the little bit of attention they do pay to black people, they get NOTHING in return. meanwhile all a Democrat has to do is put a D by their name and buy off the Black Baptist Ministers and the screening board of Houston Black American Democrats and they will be set. It is a big joke.

Anonymous said...

Now the posted blog at 1:15am, evidently is not aware of his/her all white Senators in Washington, and Congress person. They represent black communities. We only have two black representatives from Houston and the rest are WHITE!! You need to do your research. Maybe everything you posted is lack of knowledge, or just gossip on what you don't know. PEACE

Anonymous said...

Yeah Dorris Hubbard with her big fat ass will sell her soul for a jelly roll and the Baptist Ministers will do the same. Shiela is a damn joke and she needs two opponents! One in the Primary and another in the general! I used to be a strong supporter of Sheila's but I am going to do something different.

ISIAH CAREY said...

I'm going to leave 'fat ass' up this time but my patience is wearing thin. And what's going on in this post anyway - a slug fest - can't we all just get along - it would be more constructive to highlight the positives of the person you choose rather than tearing down the next. But that's just the way The Insite would handle it. And no more 'fat asses' okay!

I don't know who T.J. Baker is, however she gets koodos from me. I have seen Ms Jackson in action. It's sad. She does appear to be all about the camera. She shows up just in time to take a picture, say a few words and sneak out the back door. She talks a good talks....

This election time is all amout change. Time for change SJL, you have had your chance to get things done. Time for a fresh face who is willing to listen to change. Your ways are old and people are tired of hearing the excuses and blaming everyone else, but yourself for things not getting done is Washington. My vote is for T.J. I don't care if she is a Republican, she is from Houston and that all that should matter.

Anonymous said...

I don't see this campaign as viable. African-Americans generally don't vote Republican. Furthermore, the white population of the district is heavily Gay and Gay friendly (supportive of non-discrimination laws), which is not a match for the Republican party. Finally, the 18th CD has a large non-evangelical population.

Maybe she might raise $100,000 and get 20-25% of the vote. As a voter from the "conservative" part of the CD (Lazybrook), I don't see any anger at SJL. The people that would be likely to have a thing against SJL seem to live out of the district. The Conservative Social Republican message doesn't play in Midtown, the Montrose, the Heights, Oak Forest, or Timbergrove. And those are the areas that a Republican would have to have to win big to win this seat.

Its not going to happen.
