LOOK WHO'S RUNNING FOR HOUSTON CITY COUNCIL NOW!

JOLANDA JONES IS NOW IN THE RACE FOR AN AT LARGE POSITION!

All my life, I’ve taken on the toughest challenges.

Growing up in Houston’s Third Ward, I overcame poverty, abuse and seemingly insurmountable odds by immersing myself in education and sports. I helped raise my brothers and sisters and went on to become a Rhodes Scholar nominee, a U.S. National track champion, the Female Athlete of the Century at the University of Houston, a successful attorney and – my most important job – a mom.

I learned some important lessons along the way. I learned we don’t win in life by pushing people down. We win by lifting them up. We don’t win by tearing communities apart. We win by bringing them together. Most of all, I learned that winning ultimately means nothing unless we give back – by serving others.

That’s why I’m running for Houston City Council, At-Large Position 5. And that’s why I’m asking you personally to join my campaign.

I have already earned the support of a broad cross-section of leaders like Congressman Ted Poe, former Governor Mark White, State Representatives Harold Dutton and Borris Miles, Houston City Council Members Ada Edwards and Sue Lovell, Ft. Bend County Constable Ruben Davis, Harris County Constable May Walker, The Reverend Ray Martin and The Jewish Herald Voice.

These and other leaders know that no other candidate in this race will work harder and smarter for Houston. They know my word is my bond. And they know no one can beat my sheer determination to improve our great city.

In the coming months, I will be sharing my ideas for Houston’s future and I look forward to hearing yours. There are several things we can all agree on:

  • All Houstonians deserve to be safe in our homes and neighborhoods. We need enough officers to do the job; but we also need to know that they can do the job fairly and effectively. That’s one of the reasons I helped expose the serious problems at the HPD crime lab – because when we convict innocent people, the criminals still run free.
  • We must increase our supply of affordable housing to keep Houston as the best place for families in America. I’ve been working as part of the Land Assemblage Redevelopment Authority to redevelop abandoned lots with affordable housing and get them back on the tax rolls. There is so much more we can do as a city – and I look forward to a healthy debate as the campaign progresses.
  • Economic development is the key to creating more high-wage jobs and expanding our tax base so that we can afford the services that contribute to a high quality of life. That includes creating an environment that fosters entrepreneurship and expanding Houston’s workforce training programs to make sure our residents have the skills to compete for the jobs of the future.
  • Every child deserves a chance to succeed – and I will fight every day to give our kids the same opportunities I had. My road out of poverty was paved with an excellent education and the chance to learn teamwork and leadership through after-school activities. I will work to create innovative partnerships between the city, other government agencies, non-profits and the private sector to keep our kids healthy and maximize their opportunity to learn.

I look forward to making an even bigger difference on these and other issues as a Houston City Council Member. But first I have to win, and at-large City Council races in Houston are among the most expensive in the nation. That’s why I am asking personally for your help today.

I would be honored and humbled by your generous support. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Jolanda

she and quannell no longer have an attorney - client relationship.

but i don't know what will haunt her more, their past or that stupid dress she was wearing the day x got pulled over while trying to turn in a murder suspect years ago.

Jolanda - You are not in college anymore, please act and dress like an adult if you want my vote for city council!

Part of being a successful mom is having a father living with your son and you.

^^^But if the "father" can't cut it, its usually best for the child and mother that he leave.

I don't know Jolanda's circumstances, but just because her child's father isn't at home, that doesn't mean she can't be a successful mom. There are hundreds of thousands of women having to be both Mom and Dad, because dad ran off, cheated, is in prison, or is basically worthless. The work, cook, clean the house, get their child to and from school, make sure the homework is done, get them to bed at night, and love them.

Sometimes mom and dad are good people but just aren't good together.

I believe families should try to stay together, but there are many couples still together, for the wrong reasons, and they are hurting rather than helping their children.

Jolanda, having someone like Harold Dutton as support for you don't help at all he is a complete loser, liar, have not did nothing in the community, but slept with most of the women, his track record as an attorney sucks, he even has a child that he does not claim, and he knows the young lady is his daughter, he also is an alcoholic you can find him any day of the week at the sportsman on Dowling and the same laws he put out he needs to quit breaking them
Mr. D.W.I. as far as Borris Miles Borris Who Jolanda you can't get my vote your crew of people are not good

She forgot to promise free ice cream and pony rides for all the kids if she gets elected. I don't see how you can expect to win without that. Interesting note about her supporters, from a racially divisive cult hero, an alleged womanizer/drunk, to a congressman that was just raked over the coals when he quoted a former Klansman on the floor of the Congress. Glad she has a colorful cast to keep the INSITE busy!

^^^and what skeletons do you people have in the closet? drink much? womanizer? 'ho? liar? cheater? late for work? its all relative!!!!

Keep it real said...

It is not about our skeletons but when you hold a public office you should hold yourself in that matter that is just why people like them are in office because people like you dont care and another thing about skeletons, skeletons, are the old way in which a person was not to keep to continue being the same way I mean exactly what I say she nor them have any buisiness being in office

Well, she first need to dress like a lady who wants to represent our city, and not like a hooker. That how she is preceived in the community, to flashy. She did not win on that show, because people saw a phony. Running citywide, I don't think so. Who know's her?

Didn' seh already run for something in the past and didn't win? She just needs to STOP! But I can say she is community oriented, if you looking for her, you can find her, at Family Cafe on Blodgett with the rest of the "Who's Who Wanna-be's of Third Ward"

She forgot to mention that she has the support of Sam Malonson and the racist African American newspaper. I find it funny that she says we need more officers on the street, but her ad in the newspaper says that all officers are liars. Now before ya'll start hooting and hollering, I know there is good and bad everywhere. She is clearly anti-police and wellllllll her partnership with that idiot Quanell speaks volumes about her. A wise man once said " Show me your friends and I'll tell you who you are." Well, if Quanell is among her friends, that is enough for me to never vote for her regardless if she does give away ice cream and pony rides.

^^^she and x are no longer associated, she gave him the benefit of the doubt, but now knows what others already knew about him.

and so what if she already ran and lost, there is nothing wrong with trying again. especially if you are working for the good of the community.

and as for running city wide, all you need is money and an organization and everyone will know your name. that's how it works in politics. get with the program!
