DO YOU THINK OPRAH WILL KEEP THE SCHOOL OPEN AFTER THIS SCANDAL?

THE SUSPECT HEADED TO COURT AND SHIELDED FROM THE CAMERA!

Oprah Winfrey said Monday the discovery of alleged abuse of students at her school for girls "has been one of the most devastating, if not the most devastating experience of my life."

"Like all such experiences, there is always much to be gained and I think there's a lot to be learned," Winfrey said, speaking to a news conference in Johannesburg by satellite hookup from Chicago.

A matron at the school was formally charged Monday with 13 counts of abusing and assaulting students at the school.

Dressed in a black and white football shirt, the woman, Tiny Virginia Mokobo, 27, pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include assault, indecent assault, and crimen injuria, which involves verbal abuse which violates the victim's dignity.

The state alleges there were seven victims. Six are between the ages of 13 and 14 and one was 23.

The prosecutor said that "as a dormitory parent, she [Mokobo] was in a trusted position," and that Mokobo abused that trust.

"A horrible situation has been uncovered and rooted out," Winfrey said, praising the 15 girls who she said reported suspicions of abuse to the school's CEO.

Do you think a scandal like this could force Oprah to shut the school down?
