WESTSIDE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT DROWNS IN POOL!

A BOAT EXPERIMENT GOES WRONG!

A Houston high school student died Thursday after falling into a campus pool.

Houston Independent School District Spokesman Terry Abbott says the school was videotaping homemade boats made out of duct tape for a physics experiment when something went wrong.

Abbott said after the experiment was over with, three students and the victim jumped into the deep end of the pool and that is when something wrong.

The physics teacher and the swimming coach performed CPR on the student and Houston emergency medical service workers transported him to Memorial Hermann Hospital - Memorial City, where he died.

Abbott said the videotape has been turned over to investigators. It has not yet been determined if the tape would be released to the media.

The student, whose name has not been released, would have graduated in May.

    What a horrible tragedy for this youngster. However, Isiah, this was not an experiment that went bad. This ill-fated youth did not listen or follow directions and the worst case scenario happened because of it.

    Thats not the way it went down. There were 5 kids total and they jumped in on their own will and there had been no instruction to stay out of the deep end. A student jumped in and pulled him out then the teacher and swim coach gave him CPR
