HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO LIVE SPORTS CAFE' IN DOWNTOWN HOUSTON?
One of the first places I did a rap story in Houston was at Live Sports Cafe. It's located right on the rail line on Main Street. Last week when I was walking downtown to interview another bar owner I noticed a line of people standing in front of the business scratching their heads. Live was open during the lunch hour and apparently they hadn't seen the memo. The doors were shut except when a moving guy walked out. He told me the cafe was shut down. He didn't have any explanation. He said he was just there to move. Live was the venue where I interviewed New Orleans rapper Juvenile when I first got to Houston. I can recall the owner being a very accommodating individual but for the life of me I can't remember his name. I really hate to see Live Sports Cafe' go. Have you ever been there before?
Note: The cafe's website is still up but the last thing advertised is the Super bowl!

Rent was probably too high for them to afford.
That used to be our happy hour spot on Fridays (& kareoke too). Don't work for that firm anymore, & don't work downtown anymore. THat's actually the second Friday social spot I used to kick it at that's gone under. Vault was heading down the slippery slope (change in clientele) and is now gone too. I'd love to re-open that spot as a cool neo-soul, spoken word, jazz, chill lounge.
