WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE IF SHE MAN HANDLED YOUR SANDWICH WITH BLACK FINGERNAILS?I made a stop at the Subway in the Woodlands over the weekend to pick up a sandwich for a family member. The worker who prepared it did an excellent job. She had a net over her hair and plastic gloves on her hands. But it was the cashier I had a problem with. She was not wearing gloves and when she man handled the sandwich I was shocked. She held it too tight and her fingernails were black. It was like she had been digging into dirt with those nails. I didn't want any trouble but I needed a way to return that sandwich handled by the dreaded black nails. So, as I turned in the cash I just decided to just tell them I changed my mind. I asked for my money back. She asked if there was a problem. I thought to myself besides your black finger nails embedded into my sandwich, no there is no problem. But I told her I just changed my mind. She eventually gave me my money back. I should've asked for a manager but I decided to get my cash and my relative had to settle for a Whopper. What would you have done?

Before she started rolling it, I would have asked the lady with the gloves on to take care of my sandwich.
Insite--I can definitely understand your handling of the situation. I probably would have done the same thing. I don't like to 'make waves' [so to speak], so I would have just avoided a confrontation. Granted, the cashier should have known better. I've never worked in an environment where I handled food and/or money, but even I know that the scenario you described is completely unaccaptable for MANY reasons. I'm sure someone else shed light on this situation [someone like that always seems to come along as some point].
I was at McDonald's in the Museum of Natural Science. I could see my hamburger being made, and the girl that was making it, scratched her greasy head, then put that hand in the onions and put onions on my hamburger. No gloves either. There was no way I was eating that nasty hamburger. So, I told them I wanted my money back and I told them why. I wasn't mean or rude. They treated me like I did something wrong. They did give me my money back but didn't apologize or act like what they did was wrong. Then later I saw some McDonalds workers in the museum and they glared at me as if I did something wrong. It was crazy.
If you go to a drive-thru, you never know if those workers just came out of the bathroom and if they washed their hands, of if they just scratched something or WHAT. It is very rare that I go to a fast food restaurant. Most of them are teens that couldn't care less if their hands are dirty or not. They also couldn't care less about proper refridgeration. Maybe I have issues but it's gross and disgusting.

That's what you all get for eating that nasty fast food. In my opinion, if you are eating at any fast food joint you must be lazy, or you just don't care that much about your health.
It's like eating right out from a trash can. Gross. Disgusting.
I had to tell the Subway sandwich woman pleases dont touch my sandwich after you answered the phone with the plastic glove on.
You handled the situation properly. I worked at subway for a week when I was 16 and I had to quit. Let's just say I will never eat at the subway in Crosby,tx or any where... U are better off buyinng ur sub from the deli anyways. Just because u see them making your sandwich doesn't mean the containers are clean the knife hasn't fell on the ground or it hasn't been "man handled" in the back.. When they cut the tomatoes the have this nasty slicer they use that never gets cleaned..think about it.
It's policy they're supposed to wear those plastic gloves when handling food. You should've had them remake it. She knows better.
Isiah,
I have asked to speak with the manager, quietly. The manager should resolve the matter immediately.
If it ever happens a second time, then you should again tell the manager, and explain that is the reason you will not be back. And to assure the manager you will tell others to avoid them.
BUT...nothing beats blowing them out of the water on your INSITE blog.

You should have complained! Why not be honest about the real issue?
