THE MEDIA HELPS CONTROVERSIAL CALENDAR SELL OUT!

ANY PUBLICITY STILL CAN BE GOOD PUBLICITY!

When I first broke the story last week about the female firefighter calendar put out by the group Pipes and Drums there were still calendars to be sold. The calendar which featured Houston firefighter Heather Arnold has become the subject of two investigations by the department. One for the possible unauthorized use of insignias and the other for well let's just say take a look at it. Anyway, they always say any publicity is good publicity. That was exactly the case for the calendar. I checked the website where you order the item and it shows sold out. Despite the controversy associated with the calendar the model remains very proud of her work. Here's is a response I received from Ms. Arnold on Wednesday...Oh, did you buy one?

Statement:

As you know the fund raiser benefits the Houston Pipe and Drums. This team dedicates their time and effort to memorializing our fallen brother and sister fire fighters many times spending their own money to do so. I was pleased to be a part of their fund raiser and will continue to support their efforts in every way possible.

Thank you.

Heather Arnold

  1. What is the controversy? It's a good-looking female firefighter. People need to grow up. How is it that the US of A is so prude. These photo are tame.
My good friend in Canada shoots a Calendar every year for the local Fire Dept. and there is no problem with the photo's from the public. People need to grow up and face the fact that there are people with better looking bodies than them. If it wasn't sold out, I'd buy one just to help the cause.

So this pose is any worse than a bunch of guys doing the same? Isiah, you talk about discrimination, isn't this just that! IT IS DISCRIMINATION to say SHE can't do things the MENS calendar does? Or would that not be news worthy to you?
Your TV channel shows just as much, and if not, worse things on it!

  4. Not only do these tasteless photos make our female firefighters look bad,but the whole HFD.She claims her nearly naked photos were for a good cause. Why not a bikini? Does she have to expose her half naked body to the public? Make shift calendars for HFD to view. Who knows what she does at the station.
Maybe she's a station whore? Or maybe she is too stupid to realize this was trashy and offensive. I think she should be fired.

You don't know me Meadow. I am first and foremost a mother. I am a dedicated and loyal employee to the City of Houston going on 17 years. I have a family here in this department and one at home who love and support me. I hold many certifications; paramedic, HAZMAT, Bike Team, and many others. I am also a Captain of Communication. I can't expect everyone to "approve" of my photos. I don't expect everyone to support it, but for you to judge my intergrity as a good person just shows your ignorance. This calendar was NOT a Houston Fire Department project, it only *benefited* "Pipes and Drums". As for everyone who has supported, thank you thank you thank you.

As an old friend of Heather's, all I can say is, "Holy Crap!" You look phenomenal!! Thank you, Isiah, for bringing this to light. I had no idea that Heather looked like that. I can see some definite physical enhancements...which are never bad, in my book.
In my opinion, I'm a shmuck for not supporting her when she joined the department in 1994. Who knows where things may have ended had I done so. As fate would have it, however, she has done just fine despite that.
HFD...you've got a great thing in your possession. That goes for Houston, itself. This issue is moot, as far as I am concerned.

Is it okay to FB you HD? 3/9/11
