THE AUSTIN SUICIDE PILOT ON FOX ROCKS IN AUSTIN - HE'S PLAYING THE KEYBOARD - JOE STACK!

In 2007, Joe Stack was captured on video playing the keyboard in a band on FOX. Stack is accused of flying a small plane into an Austin office building after writing an online rant about the IRS.

Those who knew Stack say he offered little hint of his anger towards the IRS before the attack.

"He didn't rant about anything," said Pam Parker, an Austin attorney whose husband played in a band with Stack. "He wasn't obsessed with the government or any of that. ... Not a loner, not off in a corner. He had friends and conversation and ordinary stuff."

Parker spoke to the Associated Press on Thursday, the day of the attack.

Stack, who played keyboard and guitar, was a member of the music scene in Austin. He was captured on video playing with the band "Last Straw" on KTBC-TV in March 2007. They performed a song called "Over the Edge." (Watch the video on the upper left.)

In a self-described "rant," Stack wrote about the IRS prior to the attack.

"Nothing changes unless there is a body count." "I have had all I can stand," he wrote, adding: "I choose not to keep looking over my shoulder at `big brother' while he strips my carcass."

Stack took off from an airport in Georgetown, about 30 miles from Austin, and flew low over the Austin skyline before plowing into the side of the Echelon 1 office building just before 10 a.m. Flames shot from the building, windows exploded and terrified workers rushed to get out.

"I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different. I am finally ready to stop this insanity. Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let’s try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well," wrote stack.
