It was last Saturday night at the Southern University Alumni Houston chapter ball where the mistake was made. Lt. Gen. Rusell Honore (pictured) of Katrina in New Orleans fame was brought on stage by the Insite. The Southern University graduate was in Houston to receive the 2010 Jaguar of the Year award. Well, the Lt. General stepped to the podium. He wanted to have Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee say a few words. Everyone waited to hear what he and she had to say. Then the moment came. The General who was in great spirits said, "let's welcome Congresswoman Maxine Waters." I wanted to run to the microphone and say this is the other lady. The General then called her Mrs. Waters again. I'm not quite sure if I was embarrassed or tickled. But someone on the stage whispered in Honore's ear and told him who the woman actually was. Keep in mind the Lt. General is from Louisiana and may not be familiar with the Congresswoman. But I thought I'd just share that story with the Insite readers. By the way, Jackson-Lee didn't seem upset - she just got up and wowed the audience as usual!

HAHA! Now that's funny!
ReplyDeleteBTW, she'd better get in as many speeches as she can while she's still
in office...
I figured everyone knows Congresswoman Lee after she campaigned and served as a national co-chair for Hillary Clinton, or they should know her from introducing a moot resolution at Michael Jackson's funeral.
