One of the Martin Luther King Parade organizers turned himself in to Harris County Jail for a prior 2004 warrant.
Ovide Duncantell appeared before 5 p.m. Wednesday at the jail to serve a week long sentence for a conviction for interfering with a police officer back in 2004.
Duncantell is the founder of the Black Heritage Society, which organizes one of the two annual Martin Luther King tribute parades held in downtown Houston.
During the week-long jail sentence, Duncantell vows to not eat or drink.
Some of those showing up to lend Duncantell support at jail intake were Council member Jolanda Jones, activist Sandra Hines and a representative from Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee's office.
Duncantell said, "I'm a soldier and I will do this time." He went on to say he was wearing 4 pair of shorts under his pants and 3 t-shirts because he heard just how cold the county lockup can be!

ReplyDeleteLook that woman’s name is not TJ Baker. It’s Ms. TJ Baker Holm and I heard through the grapevine that TJ did more than just showed up. She made calls on his benefit and spoke of his goodwill.

12 years SJL been in office and she don't have enough power of getting the man out? Duncantell, should have not been booked in the first place!
SJL supposed to be an experience attorney? But instead of giving Duncantell
(Probono law favors) SJL shows up and for what? Maybe she promised to take him to lunch or dinner after he gets out of jail. Ha-ha.
I am tired and I’m not the only one, that’s tired of SJL’s (The favorite politician) illusion! Who just shows up too be seen, riding in parades, being in front of the cameras, taking photos, going to funerals, shaken hands, still passing out those tired ass proclamation certificates.
GIVE ME A BREAK!
Send SJL back to Jamaica. The COUNTRY of Jamaica where she’s really from.
Because she does NOT love District 18! Or she would have passed bills by now. And programs wouldn’t be shut down or cut. Barbara Jordan would have not allowed that to happened. Barbara Jordan is crying in her grave – that SJL is portraying herself after her.
TJ is the real thing. Who actually was raised in District 18. Studewood and Acres Homes. Who graduate from BTW and TSU and trophies from the TSU debate team.
TJ is a doer NOT a politician actress like SJL.
TJ is a proud product from District 18. Who does not seek attention.
