DO YOU AGREE WITH THE WINNER OF THIS POLL?
Over the weekend many of you participated in a poll here on the site. It was a mock election between Harris County District Attorney candidates Clarence Bradford and career prosecutor Kelly Siegler. It was a very tight and close race but the readers of The Insite have spoken. The winner according to the numbers is former Houston Police Chief Clarence Bradford. The final total was 51% to 48% for Siegler. I'm sure the real election will be just as close if both of the candidates end up in the final race. Do you agree with the results?
Clarence Bradford is the biggest joke Democrats ever put up to run. I'm voting for anyone but Bradford. Thats like the Republicans getting that crazy woman TJ Baker to run against Sheila.
ReplyDeleteBradford is a likable guy but not qualified to be DA in a large county such as this. If he ran for Sheriff he might make the cut but a job like this requires experience he has never had (and won't safely get OTJ).
ReplyDeleteUmmm...no he wouldn't make the cut as Sheriff, either. Not even close....
ReplyDeleteMore options should have been given. I wouldn't vote for either one of them.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind there are thre others also. One has numerous years at the DA's office and less of a @#$%& than kelly. There is a police Captain with a law degree. And there is also a highly competent retired Judge who has prosecution and police experience. I'm voting for Judge Pat Lykos. Before you vote learn about all of the players of this important game. Vote for anybody but Siegler. Lets have real change with a CLEAN HOUSE.
ReplyDeleteHe's still not gonna win the real election. WOMP!
ReplyDeleteThe candidates:
ReplyDeleteLeitner: Has announced he will hire a minority as his top staffer and will tie the hands of his staff when they are selecting jurors, admits to being trained to exclude minorities from juries when he was a DA ~30 years ago.
Lykos: The last candidate to suggest Rosenthal step down after repeatedly saying she was neutral. Panders to the audience by saying she encountered lots of racism by prosecutors yet while in a position to do something about it, did nothing and said nothing (can you trust someone like that; either she let the people down for decades or she's lying-there is no middle ground).
Perry: An HPD Captain that has never tried a criminal case but makes up for it with his own unique brand of community outreach that reporters won't touch.
Bradford: The guy in charge of HPD during the Crime Lab scandal, the K-Mart Scandal, numerous officer related scandals, was actually tried for perjury during his time in office, and left HPD so under staffed that it is unlikely to ever regain enough manpower. He has also never tried a criminal case.
Siegler: Says she has never encountered racism in the DA's office and spends most of her days prosecuting cases. Was a friend of Rosenthal's that ended up calling for his resignation, a bold move considering she is the only candidate he can fire or otherwise retaliate against, and has said that she tired to get him to institute changes but he ignored her (and everyone else) that tried to reason with him.
One thing for sure is the Harris County District Attorneys Office needs an overhaul.... It certainly wouldnt happen with this Kelly girl. For the life of me I dont know why the democrats cant get more qualified people..But...You really dont have the most qualified lawyers working for the government..in any capacity.. It makes you wonder why any lawyer would want to make it a career as a prosecutor..
