THE SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES WILL UNDERGO SOME SPECIAL TRAINING!Here's what the county plans to do to address illegal immigration in Harris County...Do you think it's a good idea?
Sheriff Tommy Thomas announced today that the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are working together to better address the issue of illegal immigration and its impact upon the citizens of Harris County. To that end, Sheriff Thomas has authorized selected Sheriff’s Office personnel to receive “287(G)” training. Under 287(g), ICE provides state and local law enforcement officers with the training and subsequent authority to identify, process, and when appropriate, detain immigration offenders encountered during regular, law enforcement activity. Sheriff’s Office employees assigned to the Inmate Processing Center were recently asked if they were interested in attending the training, and the response was overwhelming. Many of the employees asked were enthusiastic about the possibility of receiving such training and were eager to attend.
The Chronicle said the total opposite! What gives?
ReplyDeleteAre the Sheriffs going to engage in racial profiling or what?
Gosh, lets hope so! If it looks like shit, smells like shit, and feels like shit, chances are, it's going to be shit. Profiling works. It is good police work. Just look at "how far we have come" since the 50's when one could walk down the street any time, day or night. But at least now everybody is entitaled to feeling good about themselves and being free to act in any atrocious manner they choose because it is owed to them.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a good idea....and long overdue. And it's not "racial profiling" (which is a misnomer and a fairy tale created in N.J.), it's part and parcel of criminal profiling, and it works. It's time for more local agencies to crack down on illegal immigration....which is Federal law that ALL peace officers in any state in this union have sworn to uphold (in addition to State and local laws).
ReplyDeleteGood idea yes. BAD Sheriff!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBAD Sheriff?????? Get a grip....you don't have a clue how much good Sheriff Thomas has done for county law enforcement. One bullshit "investigative report" (translated into "yellow journalism") over a non-issue in an election year does not make him a criminal. So, like I said, get a grip moron.
ReplyDeleteI think bribery is a big issue, asshole....
ReplyDeleteHow much he paid for the house?
and after his approved the jail, why did he get a $10,000 donation from the guy who won the no-bid contract.
I guess you never heard of Hollow-burden scandal......
Time for a change, this Sheriff has to go, with his other buddies...
Right on brother! He is a BAD, BAD MAN. You'd be surprised at what I know he has AND hasn't done for this County. If you could get his Deputies and Detectives protection from retaliation they could tell you horror stories about CAD reports made and reports that were never made about his family and friends.Lets start there first with what he has done for this County! Oh yes...more to come. Stay tuned.
