TAKING A RIDE BACK IN THE TIME MACHINE TO 1975 VIA EBONY MAGAZINE!

DO YOU REMEMBER ANY OF THESE ADS FROM THE 1970'S!

A co-worker of the Insite brought in an original copy of a 1975 Ebony Magazine. On the cover was the cast of Good Times. When I saw it I flipped because I'm a huge fan of history. But I couldn't prepare myself for the advertisements when I opened the periodical. It was everything from big Afros to Champale being sold to the readers. Here are some of the ads that may jog your historical memory. One of the ads that stuck out for me was the Fanni-Bra. Apparently, it used to make women appear to have bigger buts. I can recall to the mid 1970's when my mother Dollie used to dog out a neighbor. My mom would say that's not her real booty. Dollie would always say she had on a booty bra. Now, I realize exactly what she was talking about because back then I wouldn't dare ask or I'd get smacked. That's before child abuse was recognized. Also, I was excited to see the Flagg Brothers ad. It's where you can get a pin stripped pimp suit for $64.99 or a pair of platform shoes for $24.99. I didn't realize Cadillacs were going for at little as $12,000 brand new back in 1975. And the leisure suit by Lee Jeans will not be outdone. Tell me which ad jogs your memory and what you would buy if you could today!

I remember Champale from my high school days. The girls always ordered that, particularly later when Pink Champale came out.

I'm glad us white folk weren't the only ones who looked stupid back in the day.
