A JAZZ GREAT DIES IN HOUSTON!

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE LATE GREAT OZELL ROBERTS?

The Insite knew little about the jazz legend Ozell Roberts until I ran into a guy by the name of Rob Langer at Radio Shack in North Harris County. I decided to look up Mr. Roberts and found he had a rich career. Unfortunately, he died last weekend and funeral services are set for this weekend. Here's a note about Ozell Roberts from a family member who says he's worked with such great artists as Stevie Wonder, Etta James and even Ike and Tina Turner:

The funeral will be held Saturday - 4/18/09 at:
Ebenezer United Methodist Church
7302 N Main St.
Houston, TX 77022
(713) 864-1796
The viewing will be from 9-11 and the service is scheduled for 11 A.M.
A benefit for Ozell will be held Sunday - 4/19/09 at:
The Spot Club
1732 W 18th St.
Houston, TX 77008
(713) 864-4485

Ozell was a GREAT BLUES guitar player. He played with alot of famous people, but he was a great mentor to alot of younger blues players and singers. Ozell use to be married to Miss Trudy Lynn a world renowned blues singer from 5th Ward Texas.
Isiah, I hope you make it to his fundraiser and do a story sometime on the great BLUES people right here in Houston.
