THEY'RE NOT DOING ENOUGH IN MINORITY COMMUNITIES?CVS claims its mission is "to improve the lives of those we serve by making innovative and high-quailty health and pharmacy services safe, affordable and easy to access." As the largest retail pharmacy chain in the nation, CVS should be able to live up to these words.
But recent studies have shown that CVS is treating its communities unequally, providing different levels of service to communities with different racial and financial makeup:
- CVS operates fewer stores per person in Houston 's communities of color and Latino communities.
- CVS's MinuteClinics are scarce in Houston 's low- and moderate-income communities.
- CVS locks condom cases in Houston 's communities of color, but rarely does so in majority white communities.
- In other cities across the country, such as Detroit, New York and Philadelphia , CVS is more frequently cited for health code violations in communities of color.
- Nationally, CVS has been repeatedly caught selling expired drugs, food and infant formula.
These practices are a disservice to the communities CVS operates in and they fly in the face of CVS's own mission statement. Community leaders are coming together to tell CVS to stop talking the talk, and start walking the walk.

WOW if anything they need to keep the condoms on the counter in stores in the hood.. LOL
ReplyDeletethis one is a waste of time... I guess its racist that you have to pay before you pump gas in the hood but not in the woodlands
Wow! Always looking to bellyache about something. What's next??? White activists protesting that SoulGlo isn't doing enough in the white community???
ReplyDeleteCVS is going to build their stores where they'll make the most money not
ReplyDeleteto make sure there are equal #s of CVS's in low income areas as others.
Ridiculous.
I did not no they sold condoms because I live in greespoint and we only have apartments I seen no condoms for lease at are CVS
ReplyDeleteAgain I say..Shut up WHITEY.And WHITEY'S good friend too.
ReplyDeleteThis might not necessarily be a racist thing but instead just a matter of theft being higher in one store than the next.
ReplyDeleteI frequent two CVS stores approx. 10 minutes apart. I have noticed one of the stores locks all of the salon hair products inside a case, while the other CVS does not and both stores serve the same type of clientele. I just tossed it off as kids probably stealing from the one store so they had to lock up the case.
Maybe the second store will get around to locking up the products as well...but for now I can hardly cry "racist" because there aren't enough facts to support it.
"...but for now I can hardly cry "racist" because there aren't enough facts to support it."
ReplyDeleteOh yeah...like THAT ever mattered with THESE ass-clowns.

ReplyDeleteWhen is Obama going to fix this problem , he promised change. Oh, I get it he'll have CVS change there locks out every few months.
ReplyDeleteReally.. CVS.. racists... I hadn't noticed.. I love CVS... who came up with this??! Jessie?! Al?! goodness!
ReplyDeleteI live out in FM 1960/I45 area, pretty diverse community. We have one CVS and two Walgreens in the immediate area. I am not sure about their (CVSs) corporate plans, but I know Walgreens outsells them 2-to-1.
ReplyDeleteI prefer Walgreens anyhow.
