HISPANICS AND AFRICAN AMERICANS AT EACH OTHERS THROATS!!!!

MADD HATTA'S SHOW REVEALS THE SADDER SIDE OF HOUSTON!!!!

It was sad to listen to the radio this morning while I was driving in to work. On 97.9's morning show with Madd Hatta, Nnete and Jimbo there was a hot topic that all of us are dealing with in Houston and other major cities around the country. A Day Without Immigrants. By now you know what this is so I'm not gonna explain it again. But on the show - which I consider one of the best in the city - blacks and Hispanics were venomous towards each other. They called in and let their true feelings be known. Some of the African American callers said they felt like Hispanics didn't pay any taxes while forcing Americans to learn Spanish and they don't contribute to society except maintaining a lawn. Some of the Hispanic callers fired back saying African Americans only sit on their butts and collect welfare and they didn't contribute to society. It is unfortunate when two minority groups are at each others throats like this. It sends a message that we all have a very long way to go. Now that the morning show has revealed this deep divide it's time we all deal with the issue before it festers and becomes a serious conflict...

This is really sad to hear. I missed that part of the show and I'm glad I did.

Both groups must realize that they have more in common than any other group in this country.

This should be addressed by group leaders before Houston becomes like many other cities, if we aren't there already. African Americans and Hispanics, for the most part, have lived without any tension in Houston. I hope these negative attitudes on such a public forum doesn't turn into something that shouldn't be.

This is extremely unfortunate. Within six months of graduating from an outstanding high school, there was a "Black vs. Hispanic" fight that had the school on lockdown for several days. We're minorities, and at the least, we need to "stick together".
