THE INSITE'S PERSONAL DEBATE: CLEBURNE CAFETERIA VS. BUSTA RHYMES????

WHICH OFFENDS YOU!!!!!

The Insite heard about the great food at Cleburne Cafeteria on Bissonet so a friend and I decided to stop at the local eatery. As soon as we walked through the door I realized it wasn't going to be easy to lay my mouth on some food. The line, which wrapped around the serving area, was backed up to the front door. I figured I'd wait with that friend a few minutes to see how the line would move. While we stood there we noticed several pictures from the 1950's hanging from the wall at Cleburne. The pictures depict employees and the owners posing in the old kitchen. But what bothered my friend was the images of all of the black women lined up in the kitchen in the black and white picture. He says it depressed him and from his tone it somehow reminded him of a time when blacks were only relegated to cooking for whites. He was so bothered he told me he was going to go back out to the car and wait. I was like okay, because The Insite's mouth was all set for some of that meatloaf. Anyway, the pictures to me were only a reflection of history. It didn't bother me at all because reminders of where you came from is only a testament to where you are now and where you're headed. But back to the line at the cafe. It was just too long so I gave up and went back to the car where that friend talked about what he called depressing photographs...Now let's fast forward exactly one day. I'm in that same car with the same friend when he unveils his new Busta Rhymes c-d. So I'm listening, waiting to hear Busta's new jams. So as I listen to my surprise I must have heard at least 100 "Niggas" in a single song. And then there's a line between Busta and this female rapper that absolutely floors me. Here's how it goes from memory - Busta: "I love my lady, I love my bitch, I love my lady, I love my bitch". The woman chimes in and says- Female"I love my man, I love my nigga, I love my man, I love my nigga." Apparently, someone thought that would be a sweet exchange between a man and a woman. I'm wondering after hearing this song in the c-d deck of the friends car...this is the same guy who got depressed from a piece of history on the wall of a cafeteria but seems totally content at a man who influences millions of people to say "nigga and bitch" 50,000 times. And then again I could be wrong, because my mouth was all set for meatloaf.

Ike, I totally agree with you. If this guy can sit in the car and listen to that foul language he should be able to stand a picture hanging on the wall at a restaurant. He needs to reevaluate his priorities.

You couldn't have said it better. Now, if only Jessee, Al and Sheila J-Lee could see the contradiction...oh wait, there is no camera there and no to pay them to lay off. Man, I tell ya...opportunists...

Ike you need to choose your friends better. Apparently, he needs to take a look at himself and realize he has issues. If he can sit in a car and listen to the "N" word all day he shouldn't have a problem looking at a picture. More African Americans should question the so called art they listen to by rappers like busta rimes. It's only poisoning the mind of their youth. This is sad and so is your friend.

isiah keeps good friends fool! The picture is from a different time. That's how it used to be, and the women in the picture may have been proud to at least be working. Now things are totally different, sometimes there might be a restarant with hispanics cooking for the blacks and whites, and hispanics too!
