HAROLD HURTT MORE VISIBLE THAN EVER!

The Insite has been told by sources that HPD is making an effort to make Chief Harold Hurtt the true face of the department. I was told, "have you noticed how much he's been on tv this week and making himself available to the media." This comes just weeks after The Houston Patrol Officers Union said Hurtt was not committed to the city because he's flying out of town nearly every weekend to Phoenix, Arizona where he was chief before coming to Houston. But sources also tell The Insite that Chief Hurtt goes back to Arizona often because his family remains there. And reportedly Hurtt didn't want to displace his children who were in school...I've been told those children are very involved in athletics and aviation and formed a lot of bonds in Phoenix. Hurtt is now the subject of a union wide vote of no confidence. If he gets a negative vote from the rank and file, I'm not sure if it means anything because Hurtt works at the leisure of Mayor Bill White and I've been told in no uncertain terms that White has no plans at all - I repeat at all of firing the chief.
