REMEMBER THIS COUPLE FROM THE AMAZING RACE!
If you've seen the reality show Amazing Race on CBS then you're probably familiar with the Agu's. Houston city council member Wanda Adams invited them to speak before the governmental body on Tuesday. They talked about their charitable fundraising efforts and what they've been doing in the community since their big win. Here's more about the Houston area based couple and their reality TV fame:
The husband and wife team of Uchenna and Joyce Agu claimed the $1 million prize on the seventh season of CBS's hit reality series "The Amazing Race." Their adventures traversed five continents, 25 cities and 40,000 miles.
The prize gave the couple much more than money. Uchenna had been employed at WorldCom and Joyce at Enron; financial strife nearly led them to divorce. They both lost their life savings, as well as their jobs. Additionally, the couple has had fertility problems, and now they are able to address those costs. They are now national representatives for a national fertility campaign, RESOLVE.
This is just a testiment to the scripture about running and staying in the race (don't ask me to quote it cause I can't) I never (rarely) watch "Amazing Race", but I totally enjoyed that season. The scene where she had to shave her head knowing that her husband was already bald was a strength binding emotinal moment that touched me deeply.
