FOX'S OWN MELINDA SPAULDING IS KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT IDA B. WELLS SOCIETY EVENT!

IT'S THE BIG SCHOLARSHIP TEA AT TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY!

The Ida B. Wells Society, a Tavis Smiley School of Communication student organization, has created a buzz on the campus of TSU by hosting a scholarship tea on April 8 from 3 - 5 p.m. in the University Museum to raise scholarship funds.
The public event will grant opportunity for emerging professionals to grasp the knowledge of how to be seen and heard as a communication professional in the competitive field.

Keynote speaker Melinda Spaulding from Fox 26 will deliver the keynote address at the "tea break" to communication professionals, community leaders, communication faculty and students on "Being Seen and Heard in media professions."

The scholarship tea event will also feature honorary host Dr. Docia Rudley, Thurgood Marshall Law Professor and First Lady of TSU.

"The idea to create a tea came from the ladies of the organization," said Dr. Vera Walker Hawkins, Ida B. Wells Society Advisor. " They wanted some quality time to spend with professors and that idea expanded to include other women with interest in communication."

The public event will grant opportunity for emerging professionals to grasp the knowledge of how to be seen and heard as a communication professional in the competitive field.

Spring fashion and professional attire are recommended. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling Monica Hill at (712) 313-4401.

The Ida B. Wells Society understands the importance of giving back, which is why all proceeds benefit the Ida B. Wells Society Scholarship and Professional Development Fund.
