ON THE JOB FOR TWO YEARS AND COUNTING!

STRAUGHTER AND SHORTEN LOOKING FOR THE KILLERS IN ACRES HOME!

There have been several complaints from some community activists who've claimed the deaths of a half dozen women in Acres Home haven't been properly investigated. They've said because the area is predominantly Black and the women are all African American the Houston Police Department doesn't care. But the Insite learned an interesting fact at a Houston Police Department press conference on Friday. The department has had two veteran investigators on the ground in Acres Home for the last two years and counting. They're identified as Steve Straughter and Darcus Shorten. HPD spokesman John Cannon tells The Insite, "Isiah these guys have literally spent thousands of hours working this case." I've also heard they've interviewed dozens of people and talked to even more in the community. HPD says a community that realizes they're out there day after day looking for the persons likely responsible for killing six women and dumping their bodies in that area. I can recall more than a year ago when I ran into Straughter and Shorten in Acres Home. They were looking for clues outside a local business where a body had been found. Lieutenant Ron Walker says there is only a small group of people who complain the department is not doing its job. He says he lives near the area and he wants the crimes solve too. He says his division treats no case differently whether it's in River Oaks or Acres Home. Walker also says Straughter and Shorten's efforts on the Acres Home case recently lead to the arrest of Bryan Davis. The man accused by Harris County detectives of killing 25 year old Kandus Sharp back in August 2007. So, if you believe HPD has dropped the ball on the Acres Home killings - officials there say think again - Shorten and Sraughter are on the job two years and counting!

  1. I guess because there were multiple killings the media cannot possibly sustain the coverage especially in our news cycle.

It would help so much if the all the victims were white attractive females. I think by then even Stephen King would have wrote a book about these murders and coverage by the various outlets would be almost non stop in some for or other.

Shut up Jolo. You say the same stupid stereotypical things every post. Your dumb ass take the safe rout. On to more important things. I would like to congratulate these two detectives for doing a great job and not giving up. This is the way I want to see my tax dollars work.

  5. I really think that some people are in denial that RACE does not have anything to do with it AS FAR AS THESE WOMEN NO LONGER RECEIVING FACE TIME IN THE M E D I A!!!

Im pretty sure that there are alot of cases that go cold. And our officers are doing a great job at trying to solve these murders.

BUT!!! media do have a preferences and if your not black your most likely going to call me a racist.

This case is big as it gets, but I did not see ONE of these women being profiled on Nancy Grace, Larry King, or Dr. Phil.

All I saw on TV that summer was some white girl in some small town getting killed after going to Walmart, or another "hot looking" white girl getting killed by her boyfriend. Does these stories really command a national cable audience over 6 women getting killed and their murderer has not been arrested?
