THE LATEST ON LEADER'S ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL!

No injuries were reported in a southwest Houston ISD charter school fire Friday afternoon.

Around 3:45 p.m., a fire broke out at the Leader's Academy on the campus of Windsor Village United Methodist Church in the 6000 block of Heatherbrook.

This school is operated by Houston ISD and opened in August 2009 to serve at-risk students in grades 9-12.

Officials say they believe the fire started in the kitchen of the school. When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the roof of the building, which is known as the Moon Hall.

No other details were immediately available.
