WILL YOU ATTEND THIS EVENT AND WHAT'S YOUR OPINION?House Speaker Nancy Pelosi along with Congressman Gene Green, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Congressman Al Green will hold roundtable discussion and press conference on Monday in Houston at the Port of Houston to highlight local jobs created through funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The roundtable will focus on initiatives funded by the Recovery Act and its impact on job creation in the greater Houston area. The roundtable will be followed by a press conference.
The Port of Houston been awarded $98.8 million from the Recovery Act and is the largest U.S. port in foreign commerce. The Port is responsible for $117 billion in economic activity for the State of Texas and approximately 785,000 direct and indirect jobs. The funds awarded by ARRA are estimate to create more than 3,500 direct and indirect jobs and help to maintain the Port of Houston as a major Houston-area economic engine.
