It appears there's a very simple reason behind the fire that destroyed a historical Houston restaurant. A cook preparing chicken in a wok is being blamed for the blaze that gutted Mai's Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant in midtown on Monday. Firefighters say the blaze crawled the walls in the kitchen and tore through the building. Mai's is Houston's first Vietnamese eatery opening it's doors back in 1978. The owners of the business have not said if they're going to reopen the hot spot on Milam. But on Monday the Insite spotted restoration workers on the scene. That could mean a new beginning for the family owned business!
