It was 175 years ago when the Allen Brothers decided to create a city named after Sam Houston. This week those people who call the Bayou City home celebrated the founding of the city. Mayor Annise Parker and City Councilman James Rodriguez sang happy birthday to the city with hundreds of people in Market Square Park in downtown Houston. Despite the heat (107 degrees) around 200 people showed up to the event. But here's the good news - the birthday celebration will last through fall. Happy birthday Houston!
