MAYOR PARKER WILL ANNOUNCE A NEW PROGRAM TO HELP YOUNG PEOPLE WITH THEIR VISION!


Who:Mayor Annise Parker, Houston-area school children with vision problems, professionals with the Houston Department of Health and Human Services (HDHHS) and community partners
What:Mayor Parker and HDHHS’ community partners will visit a See to Succeed clinic, a new public-private partnership program that provides free vision exams and eyeglasses to children with unresolved vision problems.
When:Tuesday, October 18, at 11:15 a.m.
Where:Good Neighbor Health Center (formerly West End Health Center), 190 Heights Blvd.
Notes:The City of Houston's Health & Human Development Department estimates there are at least 6,000 students each year age 6-18 with unmet need for prescription eyeglasses. This new program is currently underway, addressing this need for five weeks during the 2011-2012 school year.
