CITY EMPLOYEES: THE CITY HAS ANOTHER BIG LEMON!!!!

LEMONY COMPUTER SYSTEM + TRAFFIC COURT = MILLION DOLLAR EMBARRASSMENT!!!!!

For the second time the city of Houston is learning the multi-million dollar computer system designed to streamline the municipal court system just doesn't work. This will likely leave the city's Information Technology guru Richard Lewis pulling his hair out. And not to mention Chief City Court Judge Bertha Mejia. They've touted the new system as the future of municipal court but after several futile attempts to get it working they've been left embarrassed by this million dollar mess up. The latest failure happened Monday after going live with the system on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. And now The Insite has learned court personnel are calling the system one of the biggest lemons the city has ever purchased. Houston Police officer and president of the Fraternal Order of Police Johnny McFarland tells the Insite it's embarrassing. He says "the court administrators were looking to blame it on officers because there was a lack of revenue at city court...the problem is this (the computer system) they're spending millions of dollars on computer systems that don't work and it's losing money." McFarland says the court's new system is just as bad as the Houston Emergency Center or HEC. McFarland has been an outspoken critic of that multi-million dollar facility since it opened its doors. Meanwhile, city officials have not released a statement to The Insite on the municipal court issue.
