THEY'RE HERE FOR SEKULA-GIBBS: "GOOD!!!!!"

Carol Alvarado, who's been at the center of media attention, has been seen tackling several softer more appealing issues as of late. Tuesday at city council she presented a proclamation to retiring Galveston-Houston Diocese Archbishop Joseph Fiorenza. As you may remember Alvarado was at the center of the city of Houston's bonus-gate controversy. Four of her former employees in the Mayor Pro Tem's office were recently fired after they admitted to giving themselves 140-thousand dollars in city bonuses. Investigators say they weren't authorized. The city's internal probe did not implicate Alvarado in the scheme. However, Harris County Disitrict Attorney Chuck Rosenthal confirmed for the Insite that Alvarado was being looked at in his probe into the matter. But as of late, the former Mayor Pro Tem has surrounded herself with positive issues and people according to city hall insiders. Is this part of her public relations strategy? The good news for Alvardo was that Tom Delay's resignation made local reporters forget about her on Tuesday. Only two or three camera crews could be found at city hall's public session after Delay's announcement. Two of them were there for Shelley Sekula-Gibbs...she announced she's running for Delays Republican seat in Sugar Land.
I call that old fashioned ducking and dodging...
ReplyDelete"A SOFTER GENTLER FORMER MAYOR PRO TEM????"
ReplyDelete"FORMER" Mayor Pro Tem? Shame on you ... remember she emphasized the word "temporarily" stepping down due to the investigation. In Ms. Alvarado's “something smells” world, she portrays herself as the victim of a corrupt staff, and an advocate (heroine) to all the illegal immigrants. She applauded students for leaving school, then our tax dollars had to bus them back. While she maintains her position as our current Mayor Pro Tem (she should “temporarily” remove the title from her city council and district websites).
As for the proclamation she presented to retiring Galveston- Houston Diocese Archbishop. Is this on behalf of the fictitious morals she portrays to have? What about her "head honcho" friends at Planned Parenthood?
If, Carol Alvarado has done nothing wrong why does her world now include newly hired defense attorney Rusty Hardin and a PR spokesman from Public Strategies (Austin-based communication firm - H. Clinton has used). What happened to Tony Campos (Campos Communication) and James Rodriguez (her Chief of Staff for District I) couldn't they control her sailor's mouth, or help her rid that unconvincing “did nothing wrong” attitude.
Before James Rodriguez became her Chief of Staff, he worked for Campos Communications as the Public Affairs Director. Tony Campos of Campos Communications has been Carol Alvarado's political consulting firm.
According to CMAS (Center for Mexican American Studies - U of H) James graduated in May 1998 with a BBA in Marketing. His duties at Campos Comm. consisted of: POLITICAL FUND RAISING, public relations, voter consultation, and media activities. In Jan. 2003, he left to work for District I, as Chief of Staff. Besides Supervising the staff, he is RESPONSIBLE for directing the media, and public relations and the OPERATING BUDGET for the district office.
It struck me odd that on Feb. 28, 2006, corrections were submitted to Alvarado’s 2003, 2004 and 2005 Campaign Finance Reports. Submitted as minor “clerical errors”, one can only wonder why these documents took so long to correct. Hmmm?
As for a more softer Carol ... not really, it is all a ploy. This is all part of Carol Alvarado’s “something smells and it’s not me” world.
