IS THIS SCENE JUST TOO MUCH FOR GALVESTON BUSINESS OWNERS!!!!!
April is here and now it's time for the big test. Will Galveston businesses close doors and shut down shops as thousands of African Americans are headed to their neck of the woods for Texas Beach Party Week. Some call it the most obvious form of racism in recent memory. Shop owners in the Galveston area actually shut down when the very busy Beach Week comes to town. An event that mainly caters to an African American crowd. But this year organizers are bringing in a major promotions company and 97.9 the Boxx to try and get some respect from Galveston for the event. There's also a long list of musical acts expected to take part in the outing. Chamillionaire, Lil Flip, Mike Jones and others. The question is will Galveston businesses leave the light on or pack up and move out until the blacks are gone????
THE OFFICIAL RELEASE:
RMD Entertainment Group (Pink Sheets: RMDG) announced today that they have signed a deal with Beaty Four Entertainment to co-produce what has become one of the SouthÂs most visible hip-hop oriented events. The ÂTexas Beach Party (a.k.a Kappa Beach Party) is one of the largest spring break events in the world, which takes place every year in April. At itÂs peak, more than 100,000 students and participants have made the annual trek to Galveston, Texas for 3 days full of fun, food, festivities, entertainment, music and more. Originally it attracted students from traditionally Black colleges throughout the South; now young people from all over the nation come to what has become an annual tradition.
I've told you people, racisim does not exist! Get over it! You people are free now to do whatever you want! Stop looking for excuses and a free handout! Lastly please on the behalf of all white people, leave Galveston like you found it.
ReplyDeleteMy understanding is that the business owners are closing because of problems they experience with the crowd. The problems include vandalism, thefts, people shooting guns, etc. Do you honestly think that Galveston businessmen and women are so racist that they don't even want their money? Sorry my friend, that's naive thinking. The only color business people see is green. Have you even asked them?
ReplyDeleteThe Beach Party just like Freaknik has changed. It started out as a college party and now is a strip club on the streets. Just like Freaknik, the Beach Party has ran it course and really doesn't need to be done anymore. The Beach Party has become a burdon and not a profit for the city and that is why you have seen the city step up the police and close up shops becasue the gains don't add up to the cost. Yes, a little has to do with racism but would you let anyone of them that attend the beach party now in your house Isiah? NO, I don't think you would. I know I wouldn't because it isn't the same crowd that started the party. It was the Kappa's big thing and in the early 90's and mid 90's it was still a college party. Same with Freaknik and that is why the ATL pushed that out.
ReplyDeletePlease!! Its not all about racism though it is partly but until you live here and see the destruction that that weekend leaves behind, you wouldn't be talking. It is raunchy nasty dirty people disrespecting our town and its residents. It has nothing to do with the color of their skin cause you don't have to be any certain race to have manners and respect. I live one block off of broadway and watched them get out of their cars run into the alley and pee, in the middle of the day, men and women. I've watched the women ride naked on the bikes and out the windows of cars. The streets are completely blocked so we can't even go to the grocery store or church on Sunday. EVEN WALMART closes and all they care about is the money but its just not worth it to stay open, more is stolen than bought. And Mardi Gras is not the same thing, it is confined to the strand and seawall and once the parades are over, people move on. They don't hang around for 96 hours trashing our streets and peeing in our yards. The vandalism and theft is ridiculious and you want us to let them come back? Hell no, I wish they would take their "beach party" elsewhere!
