EAT YOUR FOOD THEN PLEASE GO HOME!

SHOULD CUSTOMERS PLAY CARDS AND DOMINOES IN A RESTAURANT?

It's Upset Friday for the Insite because I'm laying out a lot of my pet peeves. #1 on that list begins at Boudreaux's restaurant. Every time I go to the eatery I find myself just wondering why are these people trying to turn this dining spot into a nightclub. And that's exactly what it feels like every time I go in to pick up a 'to go' order. Noticed I said a 'to go' order. I come in, pick up my order and then I leave. I've gone into the Boudreaux's near 610 twice this week and I was amazed at the loitering that goes on there. On Monday night there was a group of people who had actually set up shop at a table and they were playing dominoes. Why would you play dominoes at a restaurant. That meant they were going to be there for a while and taking up space for customers who won't be able to find a place to sit. But don't stop me just yet. On Wednesday night when I went in to pick up another 'to go' order there was a group at a table playing cards. Who pulls out a deck of cards and lingers in a restaurant. People, please - Boudreaux's is not your home. You shouldn't try to live there or hold up in the business like a nightclub. Go home. Just a day in the life of The Insite!

  1. Hey hold up Isiah!!
If you don't already know.. alot of people have a "third place" you know besides being at work and at home. Its like cheers where everybody knows your name..
Apparantly management at boudreaux's don't seem to mind some patrons milling about. Its been like that for years since JOLO visits. I like the atmosphere there.
Some people hang out at Barnes and Noble for hours not buying a things and others hang out at starbucks long after the drank they're last mocha.

And besides arent you from Lousiana? Laissez les bons temps rouler!"

  2. I live near that Boudreaux's, and if you think that place is crowded on a week night, try going on a Friday! If you want to dine in, there is no place to sit. If you call in your order, they can't hear you well enough to understand your order on the phone. And if you wait until you get there to order, there are 25 people in line in front of you!

The problem doesn't just affect the restaurant, either. I use the dry cleaners in the same strip center, and there is no place to park on Fridays. In fact, there are usually about 50 cars from Boudreaux's patrons that have to park in the Home Depot lot!

Thank you thank you thank you.....and then "our people" get upset when the managers say "uh yeah excuse me, but we need these tables" Its the same with the people on their motorcycles. They just congregate and hang out all day, with barely spending any money.

Hello, no one is in business just to give you a place "to hang out". you need to keep buyng food, drinks, dessert etc; whatever - so that they can continue to make money.

I am sad to say that i have friends who like to take up tables, order ONE drink, and occupy that table the WHOLE NIGHT.

These are college educated, well payed people with apparently no common sense.

And then they try to say that the white man is trying to stop them from going to their restaurants, or whatever.

In reality, the owners just want to make a buck - no matter the color of your skin.

That's why I stopped trading with that establishment and the ones in the strip center...

  5. What's the big problem?
Management don't seems to have a problem with people hanging out there. If they did I think they would be already dealt with.

I think people take it way too serious. the people who play dominoes and cards are proably just a minority.

I guess if the patrons were white kids then its ok and people would just ignore it.

guess what people, white people hang out and congregate just like black people.

By the looks of you lately, Isiah, you need to go eat at Subway. You are beginning to look like Al Roker....and I'm not talking about the Al after he had surgery.

Heck, if you can be all up in other people's business I figured I could get all up in yours!

  7. These comments are pretty funny. I know for a fact that is more about economics than "common sense". Those patrons drive 3-5 times the revenue than "hungry folks". I challenge the insite readers on doing some research (TABC quarterly reports) and see for yourself.:)

Since you know so much, how come you can't keep a venue?

Wow, you people are harsh. I don't know Isiah, so I cannot speak for his reasoning, but I am annoyed by the same thing.

The two times that I have visited Boudreaux's, we could not find a place we could comfortably sit and eat. Meanwhile, numerous tables were being used by people who were not eating. If I pay for the meal, I think its reasonable to expect having a place to sit down and eat it within the restaurant.

If Boudreaux's was larger, I don't think it would be a problem because it could accomodate those of us who want to eat and go versus the eat and linger folks.

As it stands now, its not my kind of place.

Boudreaux's? I cant believe anyone is up there eating anyway. The food is horrible. The first time I ate there probably in 2002 or 2003 was my last time...

Ive noticed quite a few restuarants around Houston and other places that claim "Louisinia type food" are the places to stay away from...if you want some Louisiana type food, then head down I-10 and pick up some.

on a side note, do any of you remember when the Bennigans on the South Loop by Reliant Stadium was the afterwork hangout? There were so many people in there just hanging around and not eating or drinking, but to "be seen" so Bennigans, or "the other acronym" that was used for it, started charging an admission price to get in...thats when the crowd went across the freeway to Pappadeuxs, another fake Louisiana establishment.
