HAROLD HURTT TO ADDRESS 100 BLACK MEN AND YOUTH IN HOUSTON!

THE CHIEF IS ON THE SPEAKERS LIST!

100 Black Men of America presents Houston Police Chief Harold L. Hurtt as its selected speaker in the 2008 Speaker Series in Houston, Tx -January 26, 2008 - The Metropolitan Houston Chapter of 100 Black Men of America having recently relaunched it’s flagship mentoring program, is embarking on a remarkable speakers series that will bring world class African American Success stories to Houston for an intimate series of speaking engagements.

The speaker’s series will be held in conjunction with their mentoring sessions on the second and fourth Saturday of each month at the Texas Southern University’s Physical Education Arena in Houston’s historical Third Ward. The 100 is proud to announce that the 2nd speaker of the series, appearing on Saturday, January 26, will be Houston Police Chief Harold L. Hurtt.

Chief Hurtt is a role model for all of our youth in Houston and is committed to mentoring them just as the Metropolitan Houston Chapter of 100 Black Men of America do. In an effort to encourage mentoring among law enforcement officers, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston (BBBS) announces a partnership with the Houston Police Department to match officers with children in one-to-one mentoring relationships. Through this partnership, the Houston Police Department will distribute information to its employees about BBBS and the benefits of becoming a volunteer mentor. "Matching an at-risk child with a volunteer in a one-to-one mentoring relationship is a preventative solution to many of the problems our community is facing," said BBBS Marketing and Communications Director Rob Walter. "Many of the children enrolled in the BBBS program are at-risk of following the wrong road in life, the one that leads to jail over college. Through a one-to-one mentoring relationship with a law enforcement officer, they'll see how following the law and getting an education leads to a successful life."Police Chief Harold Hurtt was instrumental in forming the partnership with BBBS. Chief Hurtt has already endorsed BBBS' unique method of mentoring by appearing in the agency's "Go Big!" volunteer recruitment campaign, which includes billboards and magazine advertisements encouraging Houstonians to "Go Big!" and become a mentor.

This chief has done more in his tenure as chief of this city to set the rights of African American Officers back to the times when the racist ran this police department. chief hurts policies have Black Officers thinking they are in an environment on this department in the 1960s. chief hurt has proven to be the consumate Uncle Tom by declaring war on African American officers with a facial hair condition. chief hurt has made the racist on the department feel good because he has been so hard on a few black guys with a medical condition. But the same white racist that thought it was such a good idea for chief hurt to attack those black officers now would like to run his Uncle Tom Ass right out of town. I dont know whether or not to call him Uncle Tom or Sambo. Nevertheless chief hurt has proven that he hates his own race. If you really want to know who chief hurt is watch the movie A Soldiers Story, in the story they have a light skinned black sergeant who treats the black soldiers under him harshly and unfairly to impress the white officers. At the end of the movie the rednecks let the Uncle Tom or Sambo know take your pick, that he is not white. chief hurt came to a department that was already racist and turned the racist loose. Martin Luther King would be turning over in his grave if he were to find that a black man who could not have become chief if not for his struggle had sank so low to Uncle Tom/Sambo status.

Wasn't the prior HPD Chief also Black?

Where is this racial charge coming from?

Are you suggesting the depiction is of ol' C.O. as either Uncle Tom or Sambo?

    I don't support C.O. Bradfort but I don't view him in such a light.

Sorry, I had to read that rant a second time.

I just view Chief Hurt as an opportunist from Phoenix, who doesn't give a rats back side for anything Houston, except the paycheck and perks.

Reminds one more and more of out-of-town Brown.

Heaven forbid everyone gets treated equally on the department. He plays no favors for black officers or white officers. Brown and Bradford are the ones that have put this department back 20 years..
