HE THROWS HIS SUPPORT BEHIND A DEMOCRAT!An influential Houston minister who has long been 8 a spiritual adviser to President George W. Bush says he will endorse Barack Obama's bid for the presidency. The Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, senior pastor of Windsor Village United Methodist Church, said Saturday that he's backing the Illinois senator because of Obama's "character, confidence and courage." Obama, a Democrat, is electable and "would do a wonderful job to bring people together to pursue a common vision we all have," said Caldwell, who said his support is personal and not connected to his role as pastor of the 14,000-member church.
However, Caldwell told his congregation that Obama may pay a visit to his church.
Caldwell, whose relationship with the president began when Bush was governor of Texas, introduced Bush at the 2000 Republican National Convention and gave the benediction at both of his inaugurations. Caldwell said he called Bush to inform him of his decision to support Obama and that the president was "OK" with it, adding that the minister's presidential choice would not affect their relationship.
Why would he have to seek the permission of another man to support a candidate? Obviously, he didn't get the memo: "ONE MAN ONE VOTE"
ReplyDeleteThats a pretty old pic of the pastor. Hey lost alot more hair since then. ..
ReplyDeleteMost members of Windsor Village are staunch old school democrats who if they could vote for Bill Clinton.
I would say most members of his church were not on board with his political views since he is so connected to George Bush.
I think alot of them will vote for Hiliary Clinton regardless of his endorsement.
I feel that you shouldnt vote for who is electable. Vote for who shares your beliefs. This is whats wrong with American politics.
This preacher is a sellout and an Uncle Tom. How these African American preachers keep cashing in money from brain dead congregations is beyond me. How can you go from George Bush to Barak Obama, without the congregation saying, there is something wrong here. They are ideologically on opposite ends of the universe. If Kirby John is this felxible in his choice this shows a lack of conviction. This also shows that he can be bought. These are not good qualities for a minister to have because the people who attend that church and contribute all of the money, do so because they beleive and trust in him and hi judgement. It is almost like saying you could support the devil in 2000, and saint in 2008. If you can make that big of a change you should not be a minister but you would make a good used car salesman.
