THE HOUSTON ASSOCIATION OF BLACK JOURNALISTS DINNER 2008!
The Insite had the honor of serving as master of ceremony for the Houston Association of Black Journalists 22nd anniversary awards dinner. I wasn't on stage alone Friday night. Rachel McNeill with KPRC served as the mistress of ceremony. Hundreds of people packed into the Hilton of Americas for the event that served as an exciting fundraiser to provide scholarships for young people in the community. I'd like to thank all the people who personally supported the Insite for this event. The venue was full of familiar faces. That means I had double duty as emcee while also running from table to table to snap pictures. Some of the people in audience: Kathy Williams (KRIV), D'artagnan and Angie Bebel (KRIV), Jerome Gray (KPRC), Melanie Lawson (KTRK), Argentina James (POH), CO Bradford, Rhonda Prince (RAPALOT), Ron and Judge Hilary Green, Jolanda Jones, Felix Chevalier, Melinda Spaudling (KRIV), Sandra Strachan, Tina Knowles, Cheryl Cruzot, Yolanda Adams, Todd and Chinita M.Smith, Rhoda Chanette, Rochelle Rucker, Bernadette Brown, Gene Norman (KHOU), Wendy Corona (KPRC), Yolanda Green (CW 39), Mia Gradney (CW 39), Carl Willis (KPRC), Mary Benton (KPRC), Nnete (97.9 The Boxx), Judge Levi Benton, DMars, ReShonda Tate, Cynthia Spooner and the list goes on. The keynote speaker was NBC's Paula Madison. The honorary dinner chairs were the Knowles and Yolanda Adams. HABJ honored several Houston legends including Skipper Lee and James Campbell (Houston Chronicle). If you miss the event make sure you come next year and support the young people who are maneuvering their way through college with financial support from HABJ!
