I'm a big fan of talk radio. I try to listen as much as possible driving to and from work on a daily basis. But what I have noticed over the last couple of months is how national and local conservative talk show hosts are saying the same exact things. For example on a national talk show I heard the host say he didn't want entertainers like Diddy encouraging young people to vote in the next Presidential election because they didn't know enough to decide who was the best candidate. That host said these young losers should stay in their college dorms and smoke their pot. I was surprised to hear nearly the same exact thing from local hosts only days later. Is it a coincidence? In the past I've heard national talk show hosts go from Barack Obama can't win because of his race, then because he lacked experience and now because he's a liberal. Now some local talk show hosts are saying the same exact thing on our airwaves in Houston. When Rush Limbaugh began articulating that John McCain shouldn't be the candidate of choice for Republicans - other local radio show hosts started repeating the same exact reasons why he shouldn't be the nominee and Mitt Romney should. I'm not quite sure if they all receive a daily conservative view point fact sheet or if some are repeating what they hear from national hosts. But it leaves many wondering if there are many voices out there or if they're all following the leader. The Insite would like to know if you've noticed the same trend and what's your opinion!
Note: If you're asking why I didn't do the same analysis for liberal radio shows, I don't know if there is one in Houston that I've heard!
Isiah, If people want liberal shows, theres plenty of them MTV, PBS, and NPR. But in general I don't think liberal people could actually sit still more than 20 minutes listening to anyone talking to them.
ReplyDeleteI listen to alot of AM Talk Radio and yes, I think alot of them get Talking points from Rush Limbaugh.
Sean Hannity is proably the worst offender, Im an open minded person as you can see but when you hear him, its like conservatives can do absolutly no wrong what so ever and all Democrats want to do is destroy the country.
The you have Michael Berry, like I sad a few days ago, he's a great guy but the show is not entertaining what so ever. I much rather listen to Michael Savage he's calling all the politicians out for what the frauds they really are.
Mark Levin is one of the most ungeuine people on the planet, he get these uninformed democrats to call his show only to insult them and cut them off the phone.
Lastly Dennis Miller is sooo un funny it pathetic.
I really like listening to Tom Martino, he is VERY objective and sees things for what they are. and you get to even talk to him without being be littled.
Houston need more talkshows like that. alot of people are more in the middle than conservative or liberal
Sheep-Nation!
ReplyDeleteMicheal Harris on KCOH in the mornings is about as liberal as Houston gets. He is a devout republican. He is also one of the few local Black talk show host in town and the only one I've heard that tackles politics.
ReplyDeleteEarly Sunday mornings between 7 and 8:am Rev. Jesse Jackson is on 740 or 950. They pre-empt the show so often I rarely get to hear him. Thank they stopped airng Ken Hamblin, The Black Avenger.
The best show going is Coast to Coast After Dark, 740 AM after midnight. Cover UFO's
Hold on people, My show is coming
ReplyDeleteI have no way to prove what I am about to say, but I believe it that many of these consevative talk shows coordinate what they are going to talk about on a weekly basis. Not sure if RL is running the show here, but it does seem like they have this mindset and topic of the day mentality.
