SIEGLER: IT'S TIME FOR CHUCK ROSENTHAL TO RESIGN!

THE ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEYS SAY THEY FEEL AS IF THEY'RE BEING BEAT UP IN THE PUBLIC FOR NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN!

It was a shock to many when they heard the news. Harris County District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal's top prosecutor wants him to step down. Kelly Siegler, appearing on the Michael Berry talk show Monday night, said it's time her boss steps aside. Siegler says Rosenthal and his email scandal have become a distraction. Siegler says "it's a sad thing to to say." She went on to tell Berry she and other assistant district attorneys feel as if they're being beat upon for something that's not their fault and it's really frustrating. Rosenthal has said he has no intention of stepping down until his term is up at the end of the year. You may remember Rosenthal was caught up in a scandal involving emails that were released from his Harris County computer late last year!

Getting rid of all 200+ ADA's would be like throwing out the baby with the bath water. It hasn't even been legally established that Rosenthal has committed a crime and some people are calling for the entire office to be fired. The only people that would benefit would be the criminals of Harris County and their lawyers. If any of you have first hand knowledge of criminal activity by Rosenthal or any of his staff, by all means report them to the appropriate authorities (hint: reading sour grapes on blogs or at the Chronicle doesn't count as "first hand knowledge").

^anonymous you have missed the point and I suspect you don't care to get the point. Rosenthal has already acknowledged and apologized for immoral and unethical behavior. Sexual affair with his secretary, racist and sexually explicit emails and possible fundraising done all on county computers. It's not about criminal activity but unethical and immoral behavior by an office that should be beyond reproach. If you support the man then say so but don't play games with us by saying prove he broke the law.

Obstruction of Justice or tamping with evidence; perjury. I guess you did not go to the hearing.

Yes, Chuckie has broken the law.

Anonymous 8:24, I don't "support the man" but I don't support tearing down the entire office because of one man either. Also, his guilt in LEGAL matters is what is at issue here, not that he had an affair or flirts with his secretary since I suspect disqualifying anyone for public office based on a marital fling (or similar behavior) would pretty much end the careers of the majority of politicians across the globe.

Anonymous 10:59, he has not been proven guilty in any of those matters (yet). I believe each of them requires a culpable mental state (I don't practice criminal law) which has NOT been proven, especially since he is not on trial for any of the crimes you mention. The hearing is to establish the basis for what he did and why, not a jury of his peers as he would be entitled to under our system of justice. If he is convicted, so be it but that does not provide the basis for firing every ADA in Harris County. :p

I do have knowledge about what goes on there, Professionally and Personally. Trust me and others who have seen the DARK SIDE in there at 1201 Franklin, 'Throw the baby out with the bathwater'. ADA's are replaceable. The criminals will not be better off for this. The public and real Justice will be.
There are too many Rosenthal suckups and shady cronies still in there. There are plenty of Insiders who will gladly share the names. There is no coincidence that the Insiders lists are all pretty much the same. kelly is only 'grandstanding'here to get herself out of her Lakewood comments, the DR.'s e-mails to chuckie and numerous other things she is doing damge control BEFORE they hit the press.

SOMEBODY SHOULD FOLLOW UP ON THE FACT THE THE GUY STANDING TO THE RIGHT OF KELLY SIEGLER IS MIKE TRENT AND IF THEY WIDEN THE PHOTO THE GUY TO THE LEFT WOULD HAVE BEEN ROB FREYER THE TWO DA'S RESPONSIBEL FOR THE RACIST "CANADIAN" EMAIL CIRCULATED IN THE DA'S OFFICE. THOSE ARE TWO OF HER BIG SUPPORTERS....

SOMEONE SAID THIS ABOUT THOSE TWO:

Those of us who worked at the DA's office when this "incident" took place know exactly what Freyer meant when he used the word Canadian. It doesn't take a law degree to figure it out. Anyone with common sense and reason knows what he meant. He meant for no one else but the people around him to hear his bigotted language. He never meant for that obvious racial slur to go office-wide. He thought he could pop off at the mouth for a small, captive audience who would concur with his arrogance. And, now that it did go public, and just about everyone in the county knows about this story, he's too scared to take responsibility, own up to his extreme loss of judgment, fall on his sword, and say, "I'm sorry. I said something stupid in a fit of anger, and despite my upbringing and education, I was wrong." He can't do what we ask defendants to do daily in a criminal courthouse, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR DOING SOMETHING STUPID.
