A spokesperson from the office of Houston’s Mayor, Bill White will join local and national music celebs Chamillionaire, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Michael ‘5000’ Watts and Trae tha Truth to celebrate the graduation of the 40 or so children who are members of Marilyn Gambrell’s No More Victims, Inc advocacy program which has operated out of Houston’s M.B. Smiley High School for the past eight years. The celebration takes place at Pappadeaux’s Seafood Restaurant (610 FWY & Kirby) beginning at 5:30PM.
No More Victims, Inc, an advocacy program for infants and children of incarcerated parents will be commemorating what is likely to be its final year operating out of Smiley High since it seems the school is slated for closure at the end of this school semester. This very special celebration is one that Marilyn has put together for the graduating class of kids in her program since its inception and is meant to honor the children for graduating high school despite the many odds stacked against them due to life circumstances brought about by the incarceration of one or more of their parents. The celebration begins with the children pulling up in a limo, after which the attending officials and celebs will each say a brief word of congratulations and encouragement to the graduates.
Please join is celebrating this momentous occasion in the lives of a group of children that have been statistically written off as doomed to follow in the footsteps of their parents, but who have, instead, fought the odds and overcome.
