NO WAR IN IRAN AND GET OUT OF IRAQ - HONK IF YOU AGREE!

If you've driven down the Southwest Freeway under the Montrose overpass you've probably seen the people who stand above the highway with their signs. On Tuesday I saw a group again. They were holding signs saying we should end the war in Iraq. Their tactic worked, I looked up. But what if I had the wheel of the car and not Torrey 'T-Dub' Walker driving the Fox vehicle? Do you think there would've been an accident. And I don't want to hear anything about me snapping pictures while I drive. That's not the point right now. But do you think this is an excellent way of getting your message out or an unsafe practice that could cause drivers to get into accidents? The Insite would love to hear your opinion on this matter!
I believe it is an unsafe practice that backs up traffic for miles. It does nothing for me but make me late. I forgive you taking pictures because I am sure the traffic was only moving at a snails crawl anyway.
ReplyDeleteThey should all be ticketed and their sign confiscated every time. There is
ReplyDeletea time and place for protesting and that's neither.
I was completely for the war in Iraq and supported going to war with Iran untill I was driving along the other day, looked up, and saw these signs. Because of those signs, I have changed my mind and am against all war, and against republicans. Long Live Terrorist! (HUGE friggin' eye roll here...)
ReplyDeleteIs this any more distracting than billboards? Is this any more distracting than a clown advertising pizza or jewelry on Westheimer? Is this any more distracting than a giant picture of Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity advertising their shows on FM 1960?
ReplyDeleteYes, I have seen those folks showing their signs on those bridges, and yes I am guilty of looking up. But I am also guilty of reading billboards while driving on the Southwest Freeway, and looking over to quickly make out what a bumper sticker says.
IMO, those messages on those Montrose bridges interferes with traffic no more than anything else in this city does.
These protesters are interfering with traffic, and they know it - that's why they're doing it! Whether or not you agree with their message, they don't feel like their message is getting heard without disrupting traffic - like the troublemaker in kindergarten who is always acting up.
ReplyDeleteThese people are not just like a billboard - billboards don't dance and jump around - they are there all the time. In fact, moving billboards are illegal in Houston.
They should be ticketed and, if I am ever involved in an accident because of these idiots, you'd better believe I will pursue them and the sponsoring organization for civil damages.
