I'VE SEEN IT ALL: WILL THE REAL PERRY MASON PLEASE STAND!

A STORY ONLY FOX 26 REPORTER NED HIBBER COULD FIND...GREAT JOB GUY!

On television, Perry Mason represented criminal defendants. In Harris County, Perry Mason IS a criminal defendant.

Mason, 43, is charged with barratry, which is the unlawful practice of law.

He is accused of soliciting potential clients for a licensed attorney, who is not named in the court document.

Inside Mason's north Houston home, FOX 26 News spotted a local lawyer's business card with the name "Perry" handwritten on it.

That lawyer denies any wrongdoing and says Mason once swiped a handful of his cards and was handing them out to prostitutes at the Harris County Jail in an attempt to "get a date."

The lawyer is not charged with a crime.

Mason's father doesn't believe his son did anything wrong. "I can't believe this," he said.

Vince Mason told FOX 26 News he named his son after Perry Mason, the attorney from the TV show starring Raymond Burr, because it was better than the name his wife wanted: Corinthians.

"He was a good lawyer," said Vince Mason, referring to the TV character. "He would always win most of his cases, dig in, find all the facts."

Perry Mason is out of jail on $5,000 bond and due to appear in court, Thursday morning.

    Should have named him Corinthians.

Then he would have imitated a pastor and offered to lay hands on the strumpets.
