I was floored Tuesday while on the scene of a fatal police shooting. A man accused of assaulting a woman on the Metro rail stop was shot and killed by a Metro police officer. The man's body was in the middle of the Rice jogging trail in the Medical Center area. There were more than a dozen police cars with crime scene tape blocking off the area. Not to mention dozens of Metro and Houston police officers on the scene. Lights were flashing. Despite all of that these joggers were still trying to run through the area where the man's body was. What was going through their minds? Why would you try to jog through an area where you can clearly see a million police officers. Over and over again officers had to tell joggers to go around. Some even seemed upset because their path had been interrupted. How dare this guy get shot in the middle of my jogging trail. People please pay attention to your surroundings. That's how many of us walk into dangerous situations because we are so consumed with our own world. What do you think of people who don't pay attention or just don't care? The Insite would like to hear your opinion!

CAN YOU ALL JUST MOVE THE BODY UNTIL I FINISH MY JOG?

Idiots.
ReplyDeleteIsiah,
ReplyDeleteThe advertising that takes one to another page is a bit too much. I like your effort and commend you for it, but I won't be able to stand much more of this. It is not a pop-up, but nearly as annoying and inconvenient. I am making changes in my life (trying to simplify and live a better life in general) and will have to quit following your blog if this persists. I respect your right to do what you want to, but it puts me off.
Thanks
the big story here is why did they have to kill that guy? us rice runners deal with those bums all the time, they are pretty harmless, unless of course you're a complete chickenshi*. why don't they just throw a big net on these mental cases and tackle 'em down, like they do in the jungle?
ReplyDeleteHe's already dead... he's not going anywhere...
ReplyDeleteHe was trying to stab the officer with a knife.
ReplyDeleteCT- here is a better idea. Since you are so proficient at throwing nets on top of knife weilding psychos, why dont you volunteer? HPD is hiring.
ReplyDeleteIsiah - you have the benefit of hindsight in that you knew a body was there, the people running past it didnt.
Isiah #2- No kiddin about the pop-ups. DAMN! I stay on the sight until that first pop-up starts fading in, and then I abandon insite for the day.
The joggers had the benefit of more than a dozen cars and as many officers with a crime scene tape around that section of the jogging trail. It's not like the path was clear and open!
ReplyDeletehey isiah - that area is under constant construction. everyday we are re-routed, via tape and cones, in a manner that makes safe running possible in a houston construction zone. sometimes the route is quite like a maze. (rice u is very efficient like this - thanks rice! if houston was managed like rice u this town would kick ass instead of being a cesspool of humanity.)
ReplyDeleteand fyi, i'm the shirtless guy in the bottom photo. i ran right up on the carcass before i knew what was up. i did see an arm and a leg that looked familiar as one of the regular homeless mentals that live around there. this was confirmed when i asked an hpd if it was a bum.
so isiah, why aren't you all over the bigger story here? why did they shoot that guy? me thinks because he was scary and those cops were chickenshi*s. many levels of non-lethal force were not even tried. I'm dead serious about the nets. how about pop dick anonymous comes out and i'll give a demonstration. cowboys throw a lasso around the neck of a running scared shi*less bovine from atop a mad galloping equine and the good cowboy do it every single time. wtf?!? we in texass, right.
or shoot them with a quaalude dart gun and wait 10 minutes til they pass out. why kill the scary people?
and your pop up ad thing does suck. you can make a $ another way.
CT, you obviously watch too much TV. I'll let you in on a little secret. In the real world that kind of stuff will get an officer seriously injured or killed. I'll also add that police work doesn't work like "CSI" where a case is solved in an hour (with commercial breaks).
ReplyDeleteThe problem with this country is that people are sometimes UNINFORMED, yet still chime in on subjects they have absolutely NO knowledge of. If an officer came to your place of employment and told you how to do YOUR job you would probably tell him/her that they were crazy and have no idea what they are talking about. Today those tables are turned:)
And yes, Ike, those ads are EXTREMELY ANNOYING!!!
hey anonymous, you missed the point - nobody needed to die here. piss poor police work.
ReplyDeleteCT,
ReplyDeleteNext time you need help,Don't call the Police, Call a CRACKHEAD!
GET RID OF THE ADD THAT TAKES YOU AWAY FROM YOUR BLOG. WHEN THAT APPEARS.....I LEAVE!
ReplyDeleteOnce again CT, Sing for HPD,. Prove that YOU are not a "chickensh**."
ReplyDeleteYou can stuff your net into your holster and leave your gun at home.
I'll go to your funeral.
I guess you fools don't realize these same homeless dudes are breaking into cars while ur out jogging.
ReplyDeleteHey don't worry, me and my buddies know that u rice jerk offs are just that jerk offs and we will only be reactive out there not proactive.
Have a nice day fools/
Dumb, inconsiderate, oblivious (REPEAT 10X).
ReplyDeletedamn straight I wouldn't call a metro cop. or an hisd cop. or a hcsd cop. or a constable. or a bellaire or west u cop. wannabes in my opinion. hpd are the pros, and usually tend to use more common sense.
ReplyDeleteYou try to attack a cop with a knife, you die. Despite all of the TV shows and movies you've seen where they shoot the guy in the hand or leg, cops are trained to aim for center
ReplyDeleteof mass and to keep shooting until the threat is eliminated. The cop
went home to his family, his ultimate
goal each day.
Next time you see police cars everywhere, alter your course.
It's common sense.
Hey USA1 - You are a complete idiot if you believe anything out of the mouth of a cop, especially in this situation. The last thing you will hear is anything resembling truth.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the follow up on this story Isiah? I guess you are cool with the PoPo exterminating your fellow citizens. That figures, you seem to be more about glamor and getting your mug on the air than you are with any kind of journalistic endeavor, like getting to the bottom of the story.
