A Houston woman is accused of hiring at least one hit man to kill the wife of a prominent Bellaire attorney. The victim, Yvonne Stern, 52, is at home recovering from a gunshot wound.
On Wednesday Houston Police officers arrested Michelle Gaiser, 37, and charged her with solicitation of capital murder.
She posted a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning. The details of the investigation are still unfolding.
It's unclear if Gaiser and Yvonne Stern knew one another, but sources close to the investigation say Gaiser used to work at Jeffrey Stern's Bellaire law firm.
On May 5, someone shot Yvonne Stern in the stomach. It happened while she was getting in her car at an apartment complex on North Braeswood.
Stern was able to drive herself to a nearby gas station to call for help. She told bystanders a construction contractor had shot her.
Police say it was the third time this year Stern has been targeted.
On Feb. 12 around 6:30 PM someone fired a shot into Yvonne and Jeffrey Stern's Bellaire home while the couple was away.
When they returned they noticed a bullet had hit their furniture.
Then on April 15 just after 10:00 PM Stern was at home when she told police a man fired a shot at her as she went to answer the front door. She wasn't hit.
Bellaire Police and Crime Stoppers sent a sketch of the gunman in that attack. He has not been arrested.
