OIL LIKE SUBSTANCE TURNS UP IN GALVESTON BUT VISITORS NOT CONCERNED!

A man who only identifies himself as Rosie the surfer says he found oil in the water at Galveston beach. He showed the Insite the oil still very visible on the bottom of his surf board. This comes as Galveston beaches remain open this weekend despite emergency response crews finding another oily substance on the beach Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. Mayor Joe Jaworski describes it as a caramel colored substance. Many are concerned it may be traced to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Earlier this week several tar balls washed up on the beach in Galveston and at the Bolivar Peninsula. However, investigators say only the balls found at Bolivar have been traced back to BP. The substance found today has been shipped to labs in Louisiana and Connecticut. Coast Guard officials say they hope to have results back as early as Monday. In the meantime, families continue to visit Galveston beaches despite the discovery this week.
