Press Release: Harris County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a bank robbery suspect on Friday, August 27, after a car pursuit that spanned 20 minutes and 30 miles.
HCSO patrol deputies responded to a call about a robbery in progress at the Woodforest National Bank located inside Kroger at the 15000 block of Champion Forest Drive.
A bank employee stated that the suspect approached his teller station asking for change. While the employee retrieved the change, the suspect put a note on the counter instructing that money be placed on the counter.
The suspect then took the money and left the store.
After activating the security alarm, the bank employee followed the suspect out of the store, got in his car and followed him until deputies caught up to their location. That’s when a chase ensued.
After traveling over 30 miles, the suspect lost control of his vehicle and came to a stop in a wooded area near the 3500 block of Hirschfield Road. Deputy Daniel Kerrigan ordered the suspect out of the vehicle and took him into custody.
The suspect, identified as Joseph Wade Walker, was released into the FBI’s custody. He has been charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle and robbery/threats.
