Fox 26 news and The Inside have learned a Houston cop is the target of an internal probed after allegations he allowed a man accused of beating his wife to walk free. Sources tell us that officer was called to the scene of a domestic abuse case last Friday night. The officer who we're not identifying pretended to arrest the male suspect but later released him. That suspect according to our sources then contacted the female victim again that night and told her he was never actually arrested. Once HPD learned of the incident they actually arrested the suspect on Sunday. A spokesman for the department confirmed the probe but would only say the officer is being investigated for conduct.
