District Attorney Pat Lykos announced the indictment Tuesday of the Director of Financial Services for Harris County for four felony offenses involving theft and fraud. Edwin Charles Harrison, 54, has not been charged in his official capacity, and the allegations do not involve any loss to Harris County.
A Harris County grand jury indicted Harrison for False Statement to Obtain Credit, Tampering with a Governmental Record, Theft, and Misapplication of Fiduciary Property. Three of the charges are first degree felonies that expose Harrison up to 99 years or life in prison. The fourth is a state jail felony that carries a punishment of up to two
years in state prison.
Terese Buess, the Assistant District Attorney in charge of the investigation advised that none of these charges involve Mr. Harrison in his official capacity as the Director of Financial Services for Harris County, Texas, and the county has not suffered any financial loss.
The cases have been assigned to the 337th District Court.
