The Insite hears from media sources nationally known actor and playwright Tyler Perry is instituting a media blackout in Houston.
This comes as Perry prepares to debut his latest stage play in the Bayou City this weekend.
One local reporter called Perry's publicist and she said the actor and his staff were simply too busy to entertain any members of the news media.
Perry may also be concerned about potential questions from news reporters. Questions that would explore a controversial cartoon that painted him in an unflattering light.
But the real question is what would Madea do?

I really don't blame him for not wanting to talk to the media before the show. You know that if he says one wrong word about that cartoon or anything else, his tickets sales will drop. We (my friends and I) are already having a hard time trying to decide whether or not if we want to buy tickets. The ticket prices for his shows have increased compared to when he first started performing his plays. So, couple high ticket prices with bad press and you will have an empty theater.
ReplyDeleteHe's much too important to have to give a 5 minute local interview sounds like.
