BIG NAMES SUPPORT RED LIGHT CAMERAS IN HOUSTON!

Mattress Mack
Press Release: With early voting now underway, local business icon Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale today joined together with Houston’s leading police and fire groups, who represent over 9,000 law enforcement and first responder groups, to urge their fellow Houstonians to support the life-saving benefits of red light safety cameras and vote FOR Prop 3 at the very end of their ballots.

Joining McIngvale to support voting FOR Prop 3 were Ray Hunt of the Houston Police Officers Union, Gaylon Davenport of the Houston Black Firefighters, State Representative Carol Alvarado, “Smokie” Phillips of the Harris County Afro-American Sheriff’s Deputy Union along with Jeffrey Boney of the Texas Business Alliance and Mrs. Ozell Taylor Johnson of the Harris County Council of Organizations.

Following the press conference, McIngvale and his fellow Prop 3 supporters practiced what they preached — and went inside the West Gray Multi-Purpose Center to cast their votes FOR Prop 3.

“I make my living on television saying we’re going to save people money,” McIngvale said.  “This (voting FOR Prop 3) is more important — we’re going to save people’s lives.”

“I have made some terrible accident scenes in my 27 years as a firefighter due to people running red lights,” added Gaylon Davenport of the Houston Black Firefighters, “and as someone who is out there everyday I know that red light safety cameras work.  That’s why we’re encouraging everyone to vote for Prop 3 — to save lives.”
