THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY RESPONDS TO THE NEW BENJI'S ACADEMY!

“We appreciate the community coming together to find a suitable school for these children.  The original Benji’s charter school remains closed. A Houston ISD campus charter school is offering to enroll the students and operate a school at the same location.

Parents may enroll their children in this HISD school or any available school of their choice. It will be up to the school district and the City of Houston to work out an acceptable lease for this property, which the city owns.”

“The debt accrued by Benji’s remains with the charter holder.  Although we have not had access to complete financial records, we believe that debt is about $400,000 but it could be larger.”

“The state will continue to pursue revocation of the Benji’s charter but we are pleased to know that the students will be moved into a stable educational environment.”
