Chharges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman at 12500 Dunlap #378 about 6:55 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 19).
The suspect, Jamal Jones (b/m, DOB: 11-28-86), is charged with criminal negligent homicide in the 180th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Felicia Jefferson, 28, of the above address.
Ms. Jefferson suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. A photo of Jones is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Burton and Officer M. Brady reported: Patrol officers and HFD emergency personnel responded to a shooting call at the above location and found Ms. Jefferson deceased in a bedroom of her parents' apartment.
Further investigation determined Jones was the boyfriend of Jefferson's sister and had arrived a short time earlier to visit his girlfriend and their children.
Jones, a commissioned security guard, was armed with his duty weapon, and was in the bedroom with his girlfriend, Jefferson, his four-month-old child, and Jefferson's children, 3 and 7 years of age.
Believing he had unloaded the pistol, Jones was apparently waving his weapon in the direction of those in the room. The pistol discharged and Jefferson was struck in the head. No one else was injured in this incident.
I am off this week and I cleaned my guns but I made sure my guns were unloaded. How can this brother be that stupid? I feel for this family. Throw this joker under the jailhouse...What an idiot! PEOPLE ARE JUST SO STUPID.
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS TO SAD WHY WAS HE WAVING THE GUN?
ReplyDeleteWHY WAS HE WAVING THE GUN WITH KIDS IN THE ROOM? THE KIDS ACTUALLY SEEN THERE OWN MOTHER KILLED I KNOW THEY ARE SO TRAUMATIZED THAT IS NOT RITE AND WHY WOULD YOU EVEN PLAY WITH A GUN KNOWING ITS YOUR DUTY GUN? HE WAS'NT AT WK. SO WHY EVEN THINK ABOUT PULLING IT OUT CAUSE THATS WHAT HE WANTED TO DO THATS MESSED UP
THAT IS WRONG I DON'T SEE IT NO DIFFERENT BUT HE HAD TO BEEN FIGHTING ON HER AND THIS TIME HE WAS JUST TIRED OF HER SISTER I GUESS AND SHOOT HER CAUSE AIN'T NOBODY GONE PULL OUT A GUN A DON'T USE IT SINCE HE WAS A SECURITY GUARD HE KNOW THE RULES I DON'T FEEL BAD FOR HIM THAT WAS NO ACCIDENT I FEEL BAD FOR HER KIDS AND FAMILY
My heart goes out to the family. I know everyone involved here. I am in shock. At this point, it is hard to say what really happened. Even tho, the questions above played in my head, all I could think about was her kids, her parents, her brother, and sister. This is a difficult for them especially around this time of the year when she is known to be around. Again, my deepest sympathies to the Jefferson family..
